"Greek Island Chicken" from Perry's Back Porch, Prosperity, SC
Waldine Van Geffen VGHC42A 4 Chicken breast halves; skin, bone 2 tb Olive oil 1 Onion; chopped 3 cl Garlic; minced 1 Red bell pepper; cut strips 1 1/2 oz Sun dried tomato halves; no oil 1 1/2 c Dry white wine 1/3 c Pitted ripe olives; sliced 1 Lemon; sliced 1 1/2 ts Cinnamon 1 ts Honey Salt and pepper Parsley; chopped, garnish In large skillet over medium heat, saute chicken breasts in oil about 5 minutes, turning once. Add onion, garlic and red pepper. Saute, stirring often, about 4 minutes until onion is limp. With kitchen shears, halve tomato halves; stir into skillet with remaining ingredients except parsley. Cover and simmer 15 minutes. Remove cover and cook 5 more minutes until chicken is tender and sauce is slightly reduced. Sprinkle with chopped parsley. Serve over rice, if desired. Honest Country Cooking At A Great Price
DESCRIPTION: The blackberry cobbler is memorable. Very inexpensive restaurant with good but not outstanding country dishes. The livernips, indiginous to the Dutch Fork (Dorsche Fork) area of SC are unique. Livernips are a creamed spiced liver concoction.

DESCRIPTION: Located behind a day care center, Soul Vegetarian South would be hard to find if not for the sign out front. It is an unassuming restaurant run primarily by its owner, who is both friendly and flexible. The decor is rather plain and African Hebrew videos play on a small television, providing a relaxed atmosphere. The juice bar offers a wide range of selections, and all items on the menu are healthy. Most items are vegan as well.

Soul Veg is a Fantasic Place
DESCRIPTION: Loved it! Everyone I know had been and told me to go. All items are vegan with the exception of a few drinks that have honey in them but it is clearly marked. The people that work there are really friendly and made me feel right at home.

DESCRIPTION: Soul Veg is SOOOO good. I can't even tell you my favorite because it's all good-though I have never had their pizza. I love the salads! Their desserts are to die for. Don't miss a chance to eat there, ever!

Good for Charleston
DESCRIPTION: The food is delicious and nutritious. Their presence in Charleston is greatly appreciated since no other vegetarian restaurants are open here. This is the only all vegetarian (vegan for that matter) restaurant in Charleston.

DESCRIPTION: It's so nice to have a completely vegan (minus the well marked honey-containing products) restaurant. I can't tell how much I appreciate not having to say, "please no butter, cheese, mayonnaise, meat broth, etc.", and then sending something back, almost always- which I don't like to do anyway- because they did, accidentally, use cheese. Charleston is lucky to have this alternative, and I'm surprised we don't have more at least vegetarian restaurants.
