Vastly Overrated
DESCRIPTION: Well, I don't know why Joe's gets such high ratings. I've been there twice, and the first meal was average (nearly $17 for two cheeseburgers, fries, and soft drinks) and the steak was tough and the eggs dry for the second. Had to stand up and and basically throttle the waitress to get our check, even though there were only two other people in the diner. I won't be going back.

Could be better.
DESCRIPTION: Friendly's has a good reputation along the US East coast, but the service and meal quality at this restaurant was not up to the chain's high standards. The food was carelessly prepared and service was terrible. We stop in often for breakfast, which is a good value - well prepared and served promptly. Dinner, however, is another matter. Disappointing.

The BEST Baked Apple Pancake...In The World!
DESCRIPTION: I LOVE apple pancakes. Those baked, fluffy, breakfast versions of ... well they are almost apple pies for breakfast. I searched the US for almost 5 years before finding the prefect one. If you are in Scottsdale, you must try one.

Great Mix of Local and Mainland Food
DESCRIPTION: Ken's, while moderately expensive, provides the biggest menu in Hilo. From Mahi Mahi to Mac Nut Pancakes, Ken's serves a lot of good food. Parking can be difficult during rush times. In the mornings, Ken's bottomless pot of coffee can be a blessing to the bleary eyed. Also, late at night Ken's is the only restaurant open!

Great food for college kids!
DESCRIPTION: The food is "ono" that's Hawaiian for delicious, and the prices are just right. It's a great place to go when you're pulling an all-nighter, the best study food for me was a chocolate shake, fries and a side of ranch dressing!

DESCRIPTION: People come from far away in awe of the huge menu Kens house of pancakes has, and are suprised that everything from breakfast to dinner is served. You can have dinner and dessert in the morning and a huge Chili omlete in the evening with hash browns and pancakes. The service is great and the food tastes wonderful. You'll never want to eat at any other resturant again.

Don't Bother!
DESCRIPTION: The service was pathetic, I ordered a burger and waited 45 minutes. I was tempted to get up and leave. Although I only ordered a burger, I was served a burger platter with fries, that I didn't want and was charged $9.00. What a bargain!, McDonalds would of been a superior choice. I imagine one would have to be brain dead to return to this establishment based on the deplorable service and the less than mediocre fare. A word of advice, DON'T!, unless you are really desperate.

Diner Done Right
DESCRIPTION: The service is stellar. The coffee is fresh. Besides the standard breakfast fare there are always a nice assortment of reliable specials like chipped beef on toast, gravy on biscuits, and a great selection of pancakes. The home fries are always a great choice. It is my favorite place for breakfast north of Manchester's Up For Breakfast.

DESCRIPTION: For those of you like myself, Olde Country Restaurant is a great place for breakfast any time. Omlettes are great and very large. Other items look good also, but haven't been able to pry myself away from breakfast items.
