DESCRIPTION: I was looking for a place to have lunch while in Charleston and was in the mood for a sandwhich. This place has a ton of them! Quality and freshness were accounted for and the vegatables that adorned my "sub" were breathtaking (I actually passed out and had to be revived). The staff was very helpful in assiting me back into my cheerful yellow booth, were contour seating and a well-lit atmosphere made the rest of my dining experience a pleasant one. Note: You may want to be very stern when asking for "a little mayonaise" or else you may end up with an excessive amount.

BE PREPARED FOR A GROWL.......
DESCRIPTION: One thing I can tell you is that the worst place I have ever been treated is at the Beaufort Grocery Company in Beaufort, North Carolina. My husband and I planned our wedding reception at the Beau Gro. You know how it is, invitations out, deposits down, the whole nine yards! All excited, I called and emailed the owner to coordinate the details more than five times. I asked the bookkeeper are we still all set for our reception and she would say yes, of course. The owner would still not call or email me back. They had my deposit, the invitations were out. I went to the restaurant and waited for her to talk to me. She was there. She did not smile one time, no, not once. I actually thought she might growl, seriously ... We talked for 15 minutes and she said we could discuss the final arrangements in a week or so. So .... A week or so goes by and of course she does not call or email me back. So back to the restaurant I went along with my planner. The owner informs us that she has accidentally double booked the restaurant for the evening and if we could just have our December reception outside in the courtyard (where there are not bathrooms) then everything would work out fine. Puzzled, I said, we have booked the entire restaurant for the evening for our wedding reception. Are you telling me that someone else is scheduled to have a party here as well? Yes, she said. NO APOLOGY, NADA, NOTHING, I again thought she might growl, seriously . Sarcastically I said, well ugh .. Thanks and peace to you and yours. Frustrated, but relieved in an odd way, I walked around the corner to a great little real-state company (Eddy Myers Real Estate) who treated me like a real customer and actually smiled and was excited for my upcoming nuptials. In a matter of a couple of hours we rented The Duncan House on Front Street and the best restaurant in Carteret County (Floyd s 1921) had our every catering detail under control. So, for all you brides or party planners, take this a warning before you do business with the Beau Gro. And ugh BE PREPARED FOR A GROWL!

Tops for breakfast!
DESCRIPTION: Do you like crusty, home-made breads, over-sized cups of coffee, prompt friendly service, and fresh ingredients served piping hot? Try breakfast at the Snow City Cafe. This place is on my "must visit" list every time I travel to Anchorage (2 x month). I'm a breakfast afficianado and SCC is one of my all time favorites. Good music, a nice selection of magazines for those who like to browse with their meal, and an atmosphere that's relaxed and slightly "trendy", but comfortable for people from every age group.

DESCRIPTION: I used to live in Anchorage and ate at the Snow City Cafe quite frequently. Met friends there for meals, had business meetings, or just went by myself for a great cup of tea! All the food is fantastic, service is great, and prices are totally affordable. Moved to Southern California two years ago and really miss this terrific piece of Anchorage.

DESCRIPTION: Ordered sandwiches to go. We were in a hurry to get home to watch a basketball game on TV. Service and speed couldn't have been faster. The Pastrami Rueben was great and still piping hot when we got home. Chinese slaw and garlic potato salad was tasty! We'll be back. Two sandwiches and 4 sides were about $14. I finished the second half of my sandwich and the balance of my side orders the next day.

Neighborhood Meeting Shares Good Food
DESCRIPTION: When project coordinators, grass root leaders,neighborhood associations, and block watch groups need to meet and want a good turn out, they usually offer good healthy snacks. DESCRIPTION: Louie's is the best place in town to find late night greasy drunk food. It beats Waffle House anytime. The Big Cheesy Lou is always a good idea if you have a hankering for a burger (I like mine with avocado, no sprouts). The hashbrowns are out of this world. Everything is served ala carte, so get what you want and then split an order with your friends, there will be plenty to go around I promise. The breakfasts are awesome, but don't get an omlete on your own, unless you are looking for leftovers for the next 3 days. They have healthy stuff on the menu, like a grilled tuna salad which I heard is also quite tasty, but I only go in there for the stick to your ribs kind of stuff. If you are new to the area it is definitely worth your time, and the fact that it's in walking distance of LSU (and the surrounding bars) is just icing on the cake.

Souper
DESCRIPTION: If a long line is a sign of success for a restaurant, Souper Jenny is one of the most successful in town. Only open for lunch, they operate from a small space in a Buckhead shopping center. Patrons order their lunch, pay, and then try to find a seat (often sharing tables with others). The soups are typically very good, with an exception or two depending upon taste (or if they're experimenting). The selections range from Turkey Chili to Thai Vegetable to Chilled Pineapple and Pear, and change every day. All soups are served with a tasty multi-grain roll, though you should ask for one of their homemade pita's if any are left. The salads and sandwiches likewise change daily, and I've yet to have a bad one. On a nice day sit outside on the patio. You'll be whisked away from the Atlanta metropolis and feel like you're in a relaxed garden. The only downside is you can't pay with a credit card.

Their Subs Are Super (sorry the pun)
DESCRIPTION: Capriotti's has some of the best turkey subs around (That is if you like real turkey. They use turkey meat and not some sort of processed turkey roll). For a carbohydrate stuffed treat I recommend their Bobby sub (this sub is Thanksgiving on a roll. Turkey Cranberry and Bread Stuffing all on a sub roll). I asked my vegetarian friends to rate the veggie-turkey sub and they said that they were very good (one guy thought they were too salty but still very good). Their non-turkey subs are average nothing to write home about unless you are looking at quantity (packed full of meat, not just toppings), don t get me wrong, they are all quite tasty just nothing too special. <P> Now as far as sizes go: Small Good meal for average person Medium Good meal for Ox Sized person or two average people Large Good meal for 2 Ox Sized people or four average people <P> Now they might call them medium large and jumbo or something similar, but you will be able to figure that out by looking at menu.

DESCRIPTION: This is one of the few places left around that you can still get a great sub. Even though there are quite a few stores now, there is the same quality that has always been there. Gone are the days of DiCostanza's, and Casapulla's, but Capriotti's is still here!

Turkey Sub
DESCRIPTION: I used to drive a milk truck in Wilmington Delaware in 1977 or so. I live in Long Beach California now. I have yet to eat a turkey sub baked fresh every day anywhere. Capriotti's Turkey sub is addictive and world class. I don't know if they still make it but if they do ya gotta try one.

The 'Upper Crust' of Sub Shops
DESCRIPTION: Though I've never visted the location, at work whenever we have an event or lunch people shout "CAPRIOTTI'S!". I'm not a big fan of lunchmeats, but I did have the turkey and cheese and I can tell you it was real turkey! Not that processed meat that comes in rectangles, but true turkey with fresh american cheese. It never fails every time we order too. Consistently top quality subs are not easy to come by. 'Congratulations' and 'thank you' to Capriotti's.

Penny Hill Deli
DESCRIPTION: Well, coming from a "sub" family...(my aunt used to own Penny Hill Deli and I worked there), I can guarantee that Capriotti's is the closest you'll get to Penny Hill's subs. My aunt passed away last year and I'm glad that I know her recipe for a great Italian Sub! Capriotti's is THE best now! When I get a sub from there, it's as good and almost similar to my Aunt's Subs!

A Bobbie Fantasy... mmm
DESCRIPTION: I live in a small town in Tennessee and have never visited Delaware or a Capriotti's store. However, my good friend and neighbor is from Delaware and the last time she went up there she brought back 2 bobbies. I didn't understand why she would bring back sandwichs across several states. Well let me tell you, when I tasted the bobby, I couldn't control myself... It had to have been the best sub I have ever put in my mouth. That was almost a month ago and not a day goes by when I don't think about eatting a bobby. I'm going crazy here... Thinking about going to Delaware for the sole purpose of once again eating a bobby. If you ever think about putting a franchise in the south, Nashville would be a great place. Until then I will just dream of the bobby and the day I can lay my lips on one again.

The best sub I've ever had was in Newark Delaware in 1958
DESCRIPTION: I was lucky enough to live in Newark in 1958-59 - when I was in the 5th and 6th grade. By friend Billy Bailey and I used to walk into town from where we lived in Binns and get a sub (for 50 cents) at a place I think remember being called Angie's. The subs were so juicy that before the first bite, I would hold it up over my head and squeeze just to get some of the juice first... Is Capriotti's descended from Angie's? It sounds like I need to get back....

DESCRIPTION: I was born and raised in Corvallis and I can remember as a little girl being so excited to go there and have my chocolate crackle cookie. (This was before any expansion was made.) We moved but came back to visit grandma on several occasions, each time making New Morning a priority "MUST GO TO." With all the variety and freshness of the EVERYTHING, you can't go wrong at this wonderful venue. Casual, comfortable and great for all ages.

Not Family Friendly
DESCRIPTION: We were really disappointed by the New Morning bakery (on 2nd st. in Corvallis) today. We had three moms and a dad in our party, with three toddlers and two babies. We probably spent about $50.00 on food. At one point, as toddlers tend to do, they got loud, for about 20 seconds. The owner of the New Morning Bakery came over and asked if we would take all the kids outside (onto the sidewalk) until they calmed down. At this point the kids were already quiet. Who the heck asks you to take all your children out of a restaurant, a cafeteria style one at that? I'm never eating there again and want people to know that they shouldn't expect a family friendly atmosphere if they eat there.

Dining At New Morning
DESCRIPTION: I have eaten many meals at The New Morning Bakery. Being a mom of two small children it's a great place to stop in and grab a quick bite. I have noticed a trend with fellow patrons and their children. They don't seem to watch them and let their noise level become very distrubing. I wish that people who take children out to eat would pay attention to their childrens needs so that they don't feel it necessary to become so distrupted to everyone around them. I appreciate when an establishment cares enough to say something.

If you like long lines, blah food, and bussing and cleaning your tables, NMB is for you...
DESCRIPTION: My wife and I went to NMB a few months back and were definitely underwhelmed by the lunch fare and service. We decided to give them another try last week. Pros: 1) The cakes and other desserts look delicious. 2) Seating is pleasant enough, if you ignore all the signs in tacky plastic ("bus your table", "buy cakes for mother's day", "buy cakes for graduation", etc.) Cons: 1) Long lines 2) Must wait at end of line to pick up food (my soup was cold by the time my panini was done...) 3) Food is pre-made (e.g., the quiche is re-heated in a microwave, decimating any flakiness the crust may have once had), and can't be customized (e.g., you can't hold the mayo) 4) Food isn't that great: black bean soup was watery, salads are small (and nothing special) for the price, panini was dripping and falling apart... 5) Unfriendly ambience: multiple signs on front door were offputting ("we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone", "restrooms for customers only", "water for customers only", etc.) 6) You must clean your table with provided spray bottle (!) and bus your dishes when finished. 7) The owner was yelling at the staff in front of customers.
