The Worst Service, Okay Food
DESCRIPTION: There is a known saying in the customer service industry: If you like something you will most likely tell one person but if you don't like something you will tell 100 people. I believe it is a necessary service to prospective patrons to know that if you are not Chinese, do not go to this restaurant! The owners and staff are rude and inconsiderate and the food is only adequate. It is shocking that they are recognized as one of the best in the area. I will never eat there again. The overall ambiance was simple and cold. Every person working there wore a scowl on their face.

Just 2 things to ask about your service
DESCRIPTION: 1. Do not throw the menu, plates, & utensils. 2. Do not talk to others when you are talking to customers, especially, taking orders. Hope it's not too much to ask (to clueless people). Meat dishes smell in spite of high price. Enormous dim sum variety & most are good, however, each dish is more expensive than other restaurants. Thy shall not expect good service at Chinese restaurants is a general rule even though they are known as expensive. *I rated as 'OK' because service differs when I go with Taiwanese friends.

Tasty place but crowded!
DESCRIPTION: I enjoyed dim sum at the JLP on Sunday and had to wait an hour. However, the wait was worth it because the dim sum was very good. Not as good as SF Chinatown, but close 8^) I found the service quite friendly but per an earlier reviewer it might have been because I'm Chinese. The servers were prompt. The food was just at the right temperatures. The facility was welcoming! It's a wonderful Sunday treat!

Fantastic Chinese in Wallingford
DESCRIPTION: This place has GREAT food, among the best I have found since moving from Hawaii. Go for the free BBQ Pork fried rice that comes with orders totalling $20 or more (at this place, $20 would feed 5 or 6 people.) Also try the chicken chow mein with vegetables - on request, they'll take the thin noodles and fry the whole mass so they acquire just bit of crispy crust. Wish more people knew about this place, because it is a real gem!

Hey, welcome to Forbidden City where the lights are low so you can't see what you're eating; they are probably hoping you won't be able to taste it either. The gaudy Chinese artwork and tacky tableclothes are all part of the ruse, folks! DISTRACTION. The food here sucks. I won't even go into the service. FYI - I went on a Saturday night.

Great Dim Sum
DESCRIPTION: At lunch time Ming's you have a choice of ordering off the menu, or getting Dim Sum. Go for the Dim Sum! Unbelievable Sushi
DESCRIPTION: Green Tea gets a lot of attention for its Chinese food, and rightly so; it is as good as any in Chinatown. However, the sushi bar is often overlooked, and that is a shame. The sushi at Green Tea is unlike any you have ever seen or tasted. The Chinese born, French trained chef is making creations that will thrill your eyes as well as your tastebuds. Be sure to find Sonny and let him suggest his newest invention. It's a little hard to find, but worth seeking out this special place.

The Best Chinese Food in the Area
DESCRIPTION: I've been to *all* of the Chinese restaurants in the area. The Great Wall is consistently the best. All of the main courses are well prepared and tasty. They will vary spiciness to suit your taste. There is Mandarin dim-sum on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Only thing they just can't seem to do right is Hot and Sour soup. I usually judge a place by the H&S soup, but that test isn't accurate in this case.

Was a Fan, but...
DESCRIPTION: I was a huge fan of this restaurant and went there once a week or so. Most of the dishes were excellent, they have a good buffet and dim sum (Mandarin style) on the weekend afternoons. But the beef dishes are terrible. I tried several and wound up with one that was inedible. I talk to the management and even reminded them on my next order and it was still terrible. The family demanded we stop going there. BTW: Terrible Hot and Sour soup.

Hit or Miss
DESCRIPTION: My family has been going to the Great Wall religiously since it opened over 10 years ago. Used to be the best in the area, but the past few years the quality of the food has gone downhill. Takeout is usually warm when it arrives for pick up and extra-greasy. The service and atmonsphere is wonderful, but lately the food is mediocre. It's definitely a hit or miss, although the buffet's not bad.

Authentic, delicious Chinese dim sum
DESCRIPTION: Vegetarians and meat eaters alike could enjoy the delicious pieces known as dim sum from Li Wah. Dim sum consists of steamers and plates and bowls of various Chinese food - from congee (a rice porridge-like soup) to char siu bao (rolls stuffed with barbecue pulled pork) to siu mai (pork and veggies in wonton wrappers, shaped like treasure bags) to har gau (shrimp in shell-shaped cellophane noodles) to turnip cakes to these glutinous rice balls and egg tarts to the gelatinous mango pudding. It would easy to make a meal of multiple dim sum selections. The Chinese dishes here are also delicious, including the chow fun (thick rice noodles, mixed with beef and chinese vegetables). If you don't speak Chinese, you can still read the menu - as parts are translated into English. As for the dim sum, a menu with pictures and English names are available - but you will want to have the ladies with the carts show you their wares before deciding what you want. The tables are already set with chopsticks and cups for tea. The wait staff has a habit of bringing forks to the table to those who they think may not be able to manuever with chopsticks. If you do arrive at the table though and do not get a fork, you can ask the wait staff and they will bring you a fork. The tea - a red tea - usually needs to steep a little bit when they bring it out. If your pot gets empty, leave the pot on your table with an open lid, and the wait staff will replace it with a fresh pot of hot tea. If you're a fan of Chinese cuisine, Li Wah would be worth checking out for dim sum, especially for a brunch.

Very good dim sum, great price
DESCRIPTION: I was looking for good Dim Sum close to home (Burlingame), and Fook Yuen hit the spot. They're just south of the other Fook Yuen location (sister restaurants?) where I've gotten good BBQ dishes for take-out. This one's a seafood/dim sum place. Crowded but excellent and fast service on a Friday lunch. I haven't been there on the weekend. The dim sum had lots of variety in the dishes, and everything was quite good. We spent $30 for a large meal for two hungry grownups and a small child.

Good food but ruined by rudeness
DESCRIPTION: A few days ago, we took some out of town friends for a dimsun lunch at Fook Yuen. When I did not charge the tip on my credit card (as I was intending to give it in cash), the manager came and in a loud voice started asking for the tip. As we were about to leave and I was taking money out of my wallet, another manager came and started demanding for the tip. In anger, I left a $2 tip. The manager ran after us when we were already out of the restaurant, and again was demanding for a tip. I told him that the $2 I left was in fact more than what he deserved. I am amazed at the aggressiveness that the restaurant's management pursued the issue; they were intimidating and their demand sounded more like extortion. I am surprised that the food severs who actually rendered the service were not invested at all in the process. Patrons beware !

DESCRIPTION: If you are looking for an authentic Hong Kong-style dim sum and noodle house, don't look in DC. You'll find your palace tucked into a nondescript strip mall in the Seven Corners area of Falls Church. Mark's has the best dim sum we've found in DC (not saying much, but still..), served on rolling carts daily. Fresh crabs, lobsters, whole fish... Great roast meats including roast pork, whole roast pig, soy sauce chicken and of course that namesake duck... Other specialties include a wide variety of noodle dishes, dumpling soups, and unusual vegetables such as sugar snap peas and leek sprouts. Oh, where to begin?
