Korean diner
DESCRIPTION: Steve's Lunch is another Ann Arbor institution. A Korean diner, very cheap, with good short-order Korean food. Considering the prices and the tasty food, I'm not sure why anyone ever goes to McDonald's or the other chains. Sit at the counter and order yourself some Be-Bim-Bop or Bul-go-ki, and you can't go wrong. If you like spicy, be sure to add a side of Kim-chi.

My introduction to Korean Food
DESCRIPTION: I actually lived in the apartment tower above Steve's Lunch and never ventured in until my (also broke) college buddies dragged me there. I quickly got hooked on the Be Bim Bop, which was selling for under $2.00 back then. (It might be up to $5.00 these days. Yikes!) For the 22 years since I first walked into Steve's Lunch I have tried many Korean restaurants, searching for a Be Bim Bop as good as Steve's, but to no avail. I have had it topped with tartare, hot in a clay pot, but I never found anything as good as what was offered up in that little diner. Hint: Be liberal with the sesame and chili oils.

Great Sign
DESCRIPTION: I didn't stop there, but the old neon sign outside is gold. Glad I had a chance to photograph it.
