Food Better Than Mother Made
DESCRIPTION: Elmo's is a classic diner with breakfast served all day and night. There is plenty of fresh hot coffee while you wait for a seat at this always crowded but friendly restaurant. If you want a great home cooked meal but are too lazy to cook it yourself, Elmo's is the place. Some of it is plain fare but fresh, nicely presented and good quality. Some of the specials are a bit more creative. You will always get a good meal, served by friendly wait staff at a reasonable price.

Fantastic Food
DESCRIPTION: This place has been here forever. I grew up near there and no trip to the beach was complete without a stop at El's on the way home. I highly recommend the Oyster burger, shrimp burger and BBQ plate.

Where the Locals Go
DESCRIPTION: All the locals go to Fireside Restaurant because the food here is just about the best cooking for the best price anywhere in Hendersonville. Breakfast is particularly good -- a full country breakfast the way you remember it from childhood. They have wonderful breads, good service, and great "meat and three" style lunches. Its a downhome place with a downhome atmosphere and great food. I only wish they were open for supper too.

Great place for a quick burger!
DESCRIPTION: Down home cooking and old fashioned flair, from the tables to the staff... The waitress was sweet, friendly and attentive as could be, and was great! I got a hamburger one time that was really good, and another time their homemade pot roast which was very good... The sides were tasty and hot, and I really liked all that I had. The desserts are huge, so you may want to share! The only downfall to this restaurant was the smoking section... It was on one side of the room and the nonsmoking side 10 feet away! I love going here for a quick lunch when I'm out and about.

Totally Dissatisfied
DESCRIPTION: We went to this diner in Boone, NC. 35 minutes later the waitress was asked where our meal was; she said it was being prepared. 20 minutes later she said the order was lost and it would be right out. 15 minutes later she brought the meal out, shoved it on the table and left. Only half the meal was there, there was no bacon, no toast, the eggs were ordered well done and they were brought out half raw. She brought the bill out and I was charged for a full meal. I told her I would pay for what was brought and the response was, "Well, I didn t charge you for the coffee, what more do you want?" I have never been treated like that, and never want to again. Thank you.

DESCRIPTION: I have visited Mel's Diner on several ocassions in Boone, NC. The only reason why I go back is because it is the only place open 24/7 in Boone. Sometimes you just need to eat late. Service is always terrible.

DESCRIPTION: As a party of 10, we arrived at Mel's Diner after a trip UP the mountain, however, it was all downhill after that. When we entered the diner there were three girls standing at the counter talking and AFTER they completed their conversation they asked how many in our party. We responded 10 and she rolled her eyes....She seated us and left......sometime later another person came to the table to take our drink orders and when WE asked how she was, we were told that she was tired - she had been there since 9 (it was about 1 now). After quite a while she returned with our drinks and proceeded to take our food orders....Approximately one hour after ordering she returned to the table to tell one person in our party that there were no more hotdogs.....after one hour and 15 minutes she came out to relay to another member in our party that there were no more hotdogs. We then asked what the holdup on the rest of the food was and she informed us there was nothing she could do about it........After one hour and a half, we walked out of the restaurant with no food..........I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.

The Grease Pit
DESCRIPTION: I too have eaten' here many times because it is open 24/7 but it stopped doing that on the weekdays. It's the owners and the management, they are just TERRIBLE. They have no idea how to run a decent business and they get away with it because they know college students won't put up much of a fight.

We LOVED It!!!
DESCRIPTION: I was traveling with my three teenagers and decided to take them to Mel's since it was right next door to our hotel. We loved it! The staff was friendly and our meal came in a resonable amount of time considering how large the order was. The portions were large and cooked to perfection. The wait was about 10 minutes. But remember...this is not a "fast food" in the sense of the "Arches" or "BK". The decor was 50's style sock-hop and very clean. Overall, this is by far a great place to eat.

DESCRIPTION: Ok ok.. when I worked there Mels was great... might be pushing it there... I take much pride in my work... but with the ingredients you have there isn't much you can do! And service is out of my hand... except that when we're swamped we're swamped. Breakfast is definitely better because it is better ingredients. Their ice cream is great... I loved their chicken mandarin salads.. and.. hmm... coffee was pretty good...

DESCRIPTION: I was in Cary for the PONY Nationals (softball) tournament and we needed a place that had some good food and quick service, and Gypsy's was the right choice. I must say the butterfly chips are the greatest chips I have ever had! If I am ever back in Cary I will definitely go there again!

I Love This Place
DESCRIPTION: Elmo's has such a large menu and you can count on everything to taste great. I go to Elmo's at least once a week, either to the Durham or Carboro locations. The staff is always friendly and the food and service is prompt...(and it's pretty cheap).

DESCRIPTION: The food is always good and fresh, and it arives quickly. There is a wide variety of dishes, and they're all good. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming, and always clean. It's like a 50's diner, but not greasy at all - everything seems healthy. The staff is very attentive and friendly, and they go out of their way to be accomodating to children and pets (they have a designated place outside to tie a dog's leash, complete with a water bucket!)
