DESCRIPTION: Souffle, souffle and more souffle. My girlfriend and I had an 8:45 reservation at Jacqueline's. When we got there, they told us to come back at 9:30, we went back they told us to wait for 1/2 hour. They ended up sitting us at 11:00! The souffles didn't come til 11:30, and by the time we were done it was alreay 1:00AM! Jacqueline's souffles are good, but not by no measure extraordinary. The worst part was when we reserved Jacqueline (who takes the reservations herself) didn't tell us what were in for. Jacqueline makes the souffles herself, so the wait and exhorbitant price is for her labour. The waiters were rude (especially the one people next to us refered to sarcastically as "Mr. Friendly"). It's totally overrated. I wouldn't go back.

Good thing he didn't have the courage to sign his name. He has saved himself some embarrassment. Any one who knows about this restaurant is aware of it's unique character and is prepared for an adventure. I'm sure Jacqueline's will continue to survive, despite the loss of this person's patronage. For someone like him, I would suggest a chain restaurant.

Very nice
DESCRIPTION: My wife and I have been long time diners at this restaurant. We have never had less than a wonderful meal. At times, the restaurant may get too crowded, and when this happens, service may suffer only the slightest. This restaurant also allows you to bring your own wine, with a $20 corking fee. This restaurant is a sophisticated central French city menu. The chef is not afraid to take classics and add his own touches. He also comes up with some fantastic specials. If you call in advance, he will also make any dish you care for. The desserts are fantastic, so save room. Meals are leisurely and are not rushed, even when the restaurant is busy. The wait staff also takes their time. Expect to spend up to two hours dining. The only negative is that I cannot get my escargot in this restaurant.

Great Pastries and Baguettes
DESCRIPTION: I stopped by with my wife on our way to the Dupont Circle farmer's market early on a Sunday morning. When we walked in there was a case on our right with pastries and croissants behind the glass. I ordered a chocolate croissant and my wife ordered a croissant. We also ordered a baguette and some pastries to go. We also ordered some cappacino (for me) and some cafe au lait for my wife. As the cafe is cafeteria style, we grabbed a table and I took the receits back to the coffee bar to get our drinks. Everybody was cheerful and friendly. There were many people speaking french in the cafe - it was quite nice. The tables were small and the chairs were tiny - but the ambiance was not bad at all. The croissants were flaky and delicious - they reminded me of my last trip to Paris. The chocolate croissant could have used a bit more chocolate - there was a single stripe of bitter dark chocolate running through the pastry. The coffee was just right. When we got home we tried the baguette - it was absolutely perfect. Hard on the outside, soft and spongy on the inside. Our biggest treat was the pastries - I tried a chocollate bag - it was a small bag made of chocolate and filled with a rich dark chocolate mousse. Wow - great stuff! It was not too sweet like so many mousse desserts you find in the US. My wife tried the rasberry mousse. Also very good and bursting wit flavor.

We love this restaurant
DESCRIPTION: I have never been disappointed at the food here at La Madeleine's. I like the fact you can choose your dishes cafeteria style, and while they are cooking them, you can get your drinks, bread and salad and sit down to eat. They always have classical music playing, you can eat on the patio or in the winter inside by the fire. A server takes care of you after you are seated and brings your dish to you. When I do not want to wait to eat, but want really great food, I go here.

BEST FOOD & SERVICE
DESCRIPTION: This is my favorite restaurant! I've been to many in California, New York, Asia, and Europe and nothing has even come close to this restaurant. This was the best experience of Maui. I had a wonderful 8 course meal accompanied with wine for $150/person. This may sound like alot, but honestly, I would have spent $250/each for the quality of the food. There are some reviews based on the prices at this place, but don't let that lead you away because for dinner they are very reasonable compared to other 5 star restaurants. Please do make reservations though!

World Class in Maui
DESCRIPTION: Gerard's gives away nothing to any other restaurant located anywhere. The food is not only delicious, but immaculately presented so that the entire meal is a symphony of wonderful sights, smells, and tastes. The Plantation Inn, where Gerard's is located, provides low-key yet elegant surroundings to set off the restaurant. This is a dining experience not to be missed, because there are not that many places in the world that can provide it.

A Truly Great Restaurant
DESCRIPTION: Le Yaca is one of the genuinely great restaurants, standing out even among the choices in a city famous for its fine dining. The intimate atmosphere is lovely and authentically French, especially surprising in view of the restaurant's location in a discount mall. The duck breast is simply the best I have ever eaten, even in France. The wine list is exceptional, and the service is fully up to the high standards of the decor and the food. A great intimate French restaurant

DESCRIPTION: We were bitterly disappointed in our return visit to La Yaca. After a very favorable first visit we decided to try again but that is the last time. After trying to decipher exactly what the texture of the pate was, (three different employees had different opinions.) I ordered it and of course it was exactly what I didn't want. A country pate with very little flavor. I was expected to use the very well browned baguette with the pate. I asked for toasted rounds. I recieved two for the entire serving of pate. The leek and potato soup was definitely the highlight of the meal. Creamy and delicious. My main course was scallops in a rich sauce. The flavor was very good but the richness of the sauce was too much. For dessert the creme brulee was good but would have been better made with a real vanilla bean. The service was not up to par. Trying to get the attention of our server was a challenge. Empty wine glasses with the bottle in a bucket across the room. Going back every time
DESCRIPTION: As future residents of Williamsburg, we had to try Le Yaca as it was recommended by almost every wine, cheese, and food shop owner in the city. We had seen it during the day by looking through the windows and were skeptical - thought it looked like patio furniture. Boy, were we wrong! The restaurant is appointed wonderfully and the food is, to use a cliche, "to die for." The potato leek soup was scrumptous - creamy, flavorful, rich, but not at all heavy. The entree of chicken leg (actually the leg/thigh quarter) stuffed with foie gras was rich, meaty, savory, and all that roasted chicken and foie gras should be. For dessert, I had the terine of roquefort which is home made. Thankfully, the serving was small because it was the richest, creamiest cheese dish I have ever experienced. Perhaps the 1/4" of butter pressed on top and bottom of the terine of roquefort cheese and walnuts added greatly to the texture. The pinot noir by the glass was fruity and just bold enough to complement the chicken and foie gras. Prices are very reasonable with entrees in the mid twenties, but including salad or soup. There is really no need to order appetizers, though they looked marvelous. All in all, a wonderful find - and one we will visit again and again

DESCRIPTION: You need to like cous-cous and lamb to appreciate The Fig, but if you do - go! It is set up in an old house that has modern art. It's not for a sheek night out. It's a neighborhood place that serves wonderful food at great prices. To me it has the best price/value equation in St. Paul. My wife and I go at least once a month!

DESCRIPTION: This place has really fresh food. The restaurant is French though, not American. They have really good baguettes and croissants and they serve most snadwiches with fresh fruit. One of my favorite things to do is dip grapes in the chocolate mousse...sounds funny but it's delicious.

popular bistro chain in the Springs
DESCRIPTION: The cheese plate is quite good and usually served with fresh fruit garnishes. The coffee is excellent and fresh. The onion soup gratinee is very tasty, with real rusk. That said, the Baguette just off northern North Academy is often filled with right-wing or religious propaganda leaflets - this may be considered a plus by some, but I get enough of that kind of thing from the local newspaper and other media - don't need it with my lunch. The Baguette opposite Colorado Tech, on the other hand, is pleasantly devoid of propaganda.

DESCRIPTION: Few people in the Springs seem to know about or recognize "hole in the wall" restaurants such as La Baguette. I REALLY enjoy they're food. The setting isn't that typical but it's like I would imagine a sidewalk cafe in France to be or something. They are friendly, fast, and I'd give them 2 thumbs up!
