DESCRIPTION: This restaurant is a hidden treasure in Nutley. It has the best mid-week specials and it's a BYOB, which are two huge incentives for families such as mine dining on a budget. The menu is very diverse, and the food is always delicious. The chef is very accomodating, especially for children's requests.

Excellent weekend crowd
DESCRIPTION: I recently went on a first date to Salt of the Earth. As a 30-something, I have to say, this place rocks. Chef Mike Vigilante is awesome. Okay, how many chefs do you know that come out of the kitchen once every single table in the restaurant is served to hang out at tables at B.S with everyone? Definitely no ego on this guy. He goes out of his way to make it if it isn't on the menu. I happened to be there on a night when lots of beautfiul people were there. Very NY/hip crowd. The food is awesome. It's a bring-your-own, which is even better. My date and I had a great time there, it seemed lots of people knew each other, as they kept stopping at each others tables. Upstairs area is for smoking, and some very cool looking people were hanging up there the entire time we were there. Great spot and hopefully will stay a hidden Nutley treasure

Well Hidden Jewel
DESCRIPTION: This comfy little spot off the beaten path is definitely worth going past Franklin Avenue for. I never saw the big deal about the places on "The Ave". Expensive drinks accomponied by mediocre food. Not for me. The Salt is a great find. BYOB, great food, and not too expensive. It's kind of got a New Orleans / smooth jazz feel about it. Not pretentious at all. As someone else in here said, Chef Mike does hang out in the dining room at the end of the night, talking to everyone to make sure that everything was better than "alright". The guy loves what he does and it shows. As the Stones say... Let's drink to the Salt of the Earth.

DESCRIPTION: This place is such a gem! Mike is as accomodating as they come. It's alot of fun, especially on Friday nights. Great place to unwind after a week of work.

DESCRIPTION: Try the Crispy Pata, or the Sizzling Squid (very tender). The Steamed Fish was okay too. The ingredients in the Fresh Lumpias were really fresh! Desserts - Yum!

The only place to go in Highlands
DESCRIPTION: Highlands has a number of restaurants that are fun to go to. But the only place to go summer and winter is The Inlet Cafe. Great food, great management and chef, and a GREAT VIEW! A must living in Highlands (as we do) and when visiting.

Great Bistro in Teaneck!
DESCRIPTION: This restaurant is a wonderful surprise! The atmosphere was cozy and the food was wonderful. The chef really knows what he is doing. The appetizer of soft shell crab was sweet and crispy. The salmon was pan seared - crispy on the outside and moist in the center. The wine was outstanding, if a bit skimpy (order a bottle for better value). The Cheddar Cheese cake was delicious.
