How I wish!
DESCRIPTION: This restaurant is in a lovely older home that is on Plymouth Road, just east of Ann Arbor. It's quaint and warm when you enter. Service is good. The wait staff is attentive and thoughtful. The food, unfortunately, is the only disappointment. I've been there twice and was underwhelmed both visits. Once I ordered a fish dish that came out with a banana's foster sauce on top. I could have figured it out even if the dessert was not listed on the menu. Improve the menu and you'll have a lovely restaurant.

Ann Arbor's Best Kept Secret
DESCRIPTION: Lovely older home with beautiful grounds. The Lord Fox has a classic menu, including Veal Oscar and Beef Wellington. The only restaurant around that serves tableside caesar salad, as well as an array of tableside desserts. Wonderful service, the best in town. The usual stress of parking is no more, compared to the overrated restaurants in downtown Ann Arbor. Wonderful for a special occasion, or just to relax on any ol' night.

An Enjoyed Evening At Painted Pony
DESCRIPTION: We called for reservations for two at 7:00 on a Thursday and our table was waiting even when we were a bit early. The wait person was prompt and courteous. Ala carte menu. The table well napped. It was quiet enough for us to carry on our conversation. We both opted for the mixed green salad with shredded apple, walnuts, a mild cheese (bleu?) with a house vinagrette dressing. My lady friend had the rack of lamb while I had the ribeye steak. We had brought our own bottle of Beaujolais (Corkage $10.00) so we did not look at their wine list. The lamb, with roasted vegetables,was rated by her as excellent and a small nibble by me confirmed. My steak, cooked exactly to order was enjoyed and was served with well seasoned mashed potatoes with a line of seasoned green beans. For a Californian the rules regarding the serving of alchoholic beverages was a bit disconcerting. When we finished our meal we could not go in and sit at the small bar for an after dinner brandy. Seems we had to have food in front of us to order a brandy. Go figure. Probably the top restaurant in St George. Californians will be comfortable with its pleasant atmosphere and attention to detail. Hope the natives enjoy it as much as we did. The bill ? $88.00 included the 20% gratuity. Will see them again later this year.

Delightful
DESCRIPTION: My husband and I just happened upon this place, hoping to get a table. Very pleasantly suprised, we walked right in. Delightful presentations and tasty to boot. As the previous person posted, very odd alcoholic beverage rules (We are from south Louisiana). This establishment could hold it's own anywhere in the country.

Best Restaurant in Montana
DESCRIPTION: We had the best meal of our vacation at Buck's--so good, we went back for more! The service is superb, the wine list huge and creative and the food was nothing less than stunning. The chef, Scott Peterson, came to our table to see how we were enjoying it, and we talked for some time. He and his cuisine are a bright, rising star that should not be missed.

Pretentious, overpriced but nice location!
DESCRIPTION: Very disappointed. Our Shrimp appetizer portion was very small and the shrimp overcooked. We had the Venison which again, came overcooked in a "generic" berry sauce plus the portions were stingy. Vegetables were cooked well though. Wine and beer are overpriced and the dessert (Key Lime Pie) was horribly plasticky and obviously store bought.

They are great
DESCRIPTION: I just moved here from ohio an few months ago. East of chicago pizza is the best. The crust is nice and thick and the buffet is the best I've seen. I can't wait till the one in Myrtle Beack opens. You have to try the Peanut Butter and Jelly Pizza, it's killer... I just saw them of the Food Network the other day, I think it was on the "Goods Eats" show. Too Cool

Great Restaurant!!!
DESCRIPTION: Everytime I come to Charleston, this place is on the list of places to eat. It has the regional lowcountry flair, but also has your traditional steak as well. I like the bar and the feeling of the restaurant - it has a "celebratory" feel to it, which I like. Not too noisy, but not so quiet that you can hear everyone's conversation.

I'm High On High Cotton
DESCRIPTION: If you didn't grow up in the South when "Cotton was King " you might not understand the advantage one has by being hidden in high cotton in order to relieve a bodily function. Well that's what gives the phrase it's superior station. As for the restaurant it's food sets it apart from many of the great ones in the Holy City and is deserving of this "uppity" name . I like this restaurant so much that I take my wife Sandy there every Valentines Day to celebrate our anniversary. The atmosphere is perfect for couples celebrating being couples. My favorite dish is wild Alaskian Salmon sitting on a bed of cabbage and grits with some sauses I can't pronounce. If you go on Valentines evening I'll be the guy with the shaved head sitting with the tall blonde. The wait staff is always great. One year I had them drop an aniversary ring into Sandy's champagne. They do this kinda stuff all the time.

not high enough
DESCRIPTION: What a disappointment. The menu offers nothing exciting, and the waitstaff has forgotten that they work in one of the "finer" restaurants in Charleston. There was absolutely nothing charming about this place...in a city otherwise full of Southern charm. Go someplace else!!! Anyplace else!!!

Excellent
DESCRIPTION: I have visited High Cotton twice. Once when it first debuted with a 14oz Ribeye special for $14 -- a deal and excellent fare. My most recent visit was May 2004 (with a toddler) and again found excellent food (though a slight increase in price), unparalled service, and great atmosphere. The waitstaff brought courtesy ice cream and other treats to keep the toddler at bay.

DESCRIPTION: We visited last November from Ontario for a weekend of shopping & enjoyed Dixie Dave's so much we had dinner there both nights. The food was great! & so were Dave & his wife, who took the time to talk to us & write me out a recipe for the spinach salad I enjoyed so much! We are going back this May with our adult children,who I know will love it as much as we did!

Traditional but Lackluster
DESCRIPTION: We visited on a Thursday and were disappointed to see about a third of the menu items unavailable, apparently due to a supply problem. The food was plentiful and well prepared, just not spectacular. That is, no local touches or twists to set it apart from other restaurants. My broiled scallops were the same as could be obtained anywhere else and my wife's quail was as difficult to eat as anywhere. The atmosphere is rustic with antiques and semi-comfortable chairs. Service was excellent; the servers were friendly and enthusiastic. Overall, it's a good place after an afternoon visit to the country or to have fun with visiting relatives, but we probably won't make the 10 mile drive again just for dinner.
