Gianni V is a Wonderful restaurant
DESCRIPTION: Gianni V is one of the most wonderful restaurants in the area. The atmosphere is wonderful and the food is spectacular. There is a gorgeous party room and wonderful live music in the summer months in the outside courtyard seating area. I give this restaurant 5 stars.

Reconfirm your reservation
DESCRIPTION: Not bad food. But be sure to confirm and reconfirm your reservation. The young hostess is not the sharpest pencil in the box. With several blown reservations already to her credit, tonight she told me over the phone that they would be serving food until 11:00. After a 20 minute drive, I arrived there at 9:45 and she informed me that the kitchen was closed. When I asked how that could be, she was deeply unapologetic and even lied to me saying that she was not the person who had just given me the incorrect information over the phone. I am very angry and will patronize the many other Highwood-area restaurants with equally good food from now on.

Truly awful
DESCRIPTION: Even without my food snob tendencies, Lulu's is an overpriced, worse-than-mediocre, wannabe-fusion place, at the very bottom of the scale. I ordered Hong Kong-style garlic beef, and my 2 friends ordered the "special" pork with spicy Szechuan sauce and Korean chap-chae. All three dishes had exactly the same sticky-sweet sauce, same taste, and all awful. What is it with bad restaurants -- when in doubt, just make it sweet? Two pluses: the decor is clean/nice, and the veggies in all dishes were cooked well, meaning not overcooked.

DESCRIPTION: This is an "upscale" soup and sandwich shop chain. Good, satisfying lunch selections--excellent hot sandwiches, decent soups and salads. Lots of tempting sweets at the bakerey counter.

Lobsterfest
DESCRIPTION: We visited the Beacon on a recent Friday night and enjoyed their lobster fest. 14 different delicious entrees. It was very crowded, but even with all the people our service was right on the mark. All the servers wait on all the customers so you never have to search for your waitress. They anticipated our every need. The food was a pleasant surprise, we had not expected the lavish dishes at such reasonable prices. My wife opted for the regular Friday fish fry, all you can eat for $6.95. We'll be back soon.

Turkey Gobbler
DESCRIPTION: I have been there on several occasions and have tried a few dishes but my favorite is the turkey gobbler. It is awesome. The service is good and the people are nice. The place was clean but sort of had a lodge feel to it. It's a pub so don't expect lace table cloths. I know this review is not overly persuasive but I tried to be honest and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Good Food
DESCRIPTION: For Des Plaines the Beacon is good food, not great. It strives to be other than what it is, a beer bar and suceeds to a degree w/the food as it is above normal for an establishment of that kind. There are some good dishes as posted by the other posters but there are some horrible ones such as the Rueben and any of the chicken sandwiches I've had.

The Gobbler Is Good
DESCRIPTION: I also love the New England Clam Chowdah. The Miss Piggy is for the uncouth among us, but the Chipper is a winnah.

BEST KEPT SECRET IN PEORIA
DESCRIPTION: OneWorld is very non-Peoria with an eclectic menu and decor. Fresh, hot appetizers, sandwiches, great baked goods and coffee make this "coffeehouse" so much more. A favorite hangout for Bradley U students and also other locals who enjoy non-franchise eating!
