DESCRIPTION: WHILE ON VACATION TO ORLANDO, MY FAMILY AND I VISITED THIS RESTAURANT WITH A CRAVING FOR GREAT TASTY NORTHEN INDIAN STYLE FOOD. MY HUSBAND IS FROM PUNJAB AND WE HAVE THREE INDIAN RESTAURANTS IN VA AND MD. WE WERE DEEPLY DISAPPOINTED IN THE FOOD AND THE PLACE WAS SO VERY DIRTY. WE JUST WANT TO HELP YOU GUYS OUT AND SAY PLEASE FIND SOMEONE WHO CAN COOK. THE PALAK TASTED LIKE SOMEONE OPENED A CAN OF SPINACH AND PUT IT ON THE PLACE. THE TANDOORI CHICKEN WAS ALSO TASTELESS AND DRY.

Super, but can be expensive
DESCRIPTION: We have lived in Boston as well as the San Francisco area, both of which abound with teriffic Indian restaurants. I found this to be on a par with some of the best, and the atmosphere was outstanding. The only downside I found was that the waiter was rather pushy and talked us into an extremely expensive meal, albeit quite varied. If you choose a single dish however the price is reasonable. I did not try the Tandoori, however, so cannot vouch for it. I tried the Vindaloo, which was quite spicy (they asked, and I said I wanted it "traditional" :-) and tasty. Service was very attentive. The "breads" can add up - we overdid it and had Poori, Papadam, and Chapati, which were all good but they pushed out the bill. The Poori in particular was light and not greasy - yum! Try it - you will not be disappointed I think.

DESCRIPTION: The place lacks a little ambience but the food is better than any place in Palm Beach County that we've been to thus far. We ordered the chicken curry and chicken tikka Botti, both with medium spice. The effect was exactly what you should get from good Indian food. The garlic nan bread was a little different but not bad. We recommend the Khyber highly.

DESCRIPTION: I went here once and hated it. Not that the food's bad. It's just that the service is unashamedly poor. My poor wife was insulted to her face and I had to foot a huge bill to boot. I will never go here again.

An Authentic
DESCRIPTION: Small, low key restaurant in a strip mall going toward the beach. Very like a typical Indian in England. Menu selection was great and our choices were invariably good. Chicken tikka masala and chicken dupiaza were delicious. Sides were tasty, like aloo gobi and onion bahji. All dishes are mild unless you'd like them prepared hotter. Medium was still cool but hot was the best choice. Service was a little slow but polite. It's not your chain restaurant trained smiley waiters/waitresses. If you want "Have a good meal!" and have to confirm it's quality several time per course then go elsewhere. We sat behind a group of local women who were unfamilair with Indian food and unfortunately were unimpressed with the mixture of flavors and tastes. My recommendation for anyone visiting an Indian in the US is to take a freind who knows what they are ordering. Indian food is an acquired taste.

Just Fine
DESCRIPTION: I just came back from this restaurant. The food was fine, although the service was quite perfunctory. It's nothing great but if you want decent Indian food and don't want to travel all the way to Ft. Myers, then this place will do.

Excellent
DESCRIPTION: We have known this restaurant ever since it opened. The excellent quality of the various dishes surprise us every time. The fresh and low fat ingredients can hardly be found in any other Indian restaurant in the region. The food is as authentic Indian as it gets between New York City and Naples, or for that matter, Calcutta.

Forget It
DESCRIPTION: We have been to this place two years ago, and then again last night. On the first occasion, the arrogant little creep who waited on us told me I could not have Vindaloo because it would be too hot for me. We live in England half the year, and I eat Indian food--including Vindaloo--on a regular basis, but this was not good enough, apparently. Last night, we decided to give them another chance. We arrived at 7:10pm, had our order taken at 7:20, and then waited for over an hour for food that never arrived (two parties seated after us were served in the interim). We left without eating, and won't be back.

DESCRIPTION: We eat at Passage to India once a week, and have never had unfriendly service or a bad experience. It's a small restaurant and every dish is made to order, which means that it's not fast food. If you want Instant International, try Taco Bell. If they are crowded, the arrival of the food can take a while, but they are always very polite and apologetic. The food is delicious, the kitchen is open as you walk in the door (Restaurants with dirty kitchens rarely place them in front of the door so you can look in!) and the staff is polite. I'm just amazed at the negative reviews. Please ignore them and give Passage to India a chance. The only thing that would make the place better is if they opened one closer to us - we travel an hour to get there. And it's worth it.

Just Great
DESCRIPTION: We live an hour away, but that's just fine, because we get really great food. For years, my wife would never try Indian food for fear it was too hot and spicy. She's now converted. For special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries, and when passing through Bonita, it's the place. It's not your chain restaurant, not your run-of-the-mill type place. Nor is it a ripoff of someone trying to serve something it's not. You may not like Indian food if you've never tried it before, but it will not be because of how they prepare it. Believe you me.

Top-Notch!
DESCRIPTION: I had the opportunity to dine at Punjab this past Friday. It is the "parent restaurant" to my favorite Indian restaurant in Fort Myers, "India Palace". First of all, the description on this page simply says "Bar". I don't get that. It's a very nice restaurant. It has many tables along the walls which are behind curtains, a very nice touch. A fountain in the middle adds ambiance. It's dim w/ colored lights around the fountain. The staff is very friendly and the service was wonderful. They take reservations. The food was amazing. Only having been there once, I can only say so much. I had Chicken Korma, hot, and it was to die for. I love cream sauces, and this Korma (creamy curry sauce) was wonderful, w/ cashews and raisins. The garlic naan was amazing: very garlic-y and buttery. My dining partner had Chicken Biryani and claimed it was top-notch. The rice had a nice flavor, the vegetable samosa was tasty. The onion chutney was as spicy as it is at "India Palace" in Fort Myers (very spicy). Honestly it's one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been to. I cannot wait to go back. Ft. Lauderdale is a 2-hour drive from here (Fort Myers) and we don't get there often, but it is one of the places I will make a point to visit again.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING
DESCRIPTION: My cousin and I went to this restaurant this past weekend expecting to try some fine Indian cuisine. What we got however... Was something that we didn't even expect? Both of us ordered the curried goat, sweetened bread, chai (the bread and the chai which is a milky drink were about the best things out of the whole meal). When we got our meals, the rice wasn't hot and when I took my first couple bites of the goat I found a couple of long strands of hair! When we told the manager, he asked for the hairs and got annoyed when I told him that I threw them on the floor. Did he really expect me to keep the hair as a little souvenir? I don't think so! We were only charged for one meal, but wouldn't have gotten the discount if I didn't about make a complete fit in front all of the other customers. As a healthcare professional, I m trained to recognize that there's something wrong when sanitation isn't maintained.
