Brunch Buffet at a Reasonable Price
DESCRIPTION: With two new chefs, the restaurant at the Grand Ely Lodge gets better marks for their Sunday brunch in 2003. They've restyled the buffet table, adding freshly carved tender prime rib, and served up a combination of breakfast and lunch items like scrambled eggs and bacon (with optional salsa), home fries, salad, fried chicken, ravioli, a bean dish and mashed potatoes and gravy. Their famous bread pudding and assorted desserts round out the $13.00 buffet, complete with a live electronic keyboardist playing and singing standard fare. Right outside of Ely with a beautiful view of Shagawa Lake, this is a very pleasant place for a Sunday brunch.

DESCRIPTION: I've been here 4 times at differnet times of the day, and each time the meal was substandard. Getting a replacement was no problem (to the servers' credit), but the second meal was as dissappointing as the first. Not worth the price, which was noticably higher than other local restaurants. The bar was fun, though, and the food went down easier with some drinks.

Wasn't the greatest
DESCRIPTION: We got the Romantic package which included two dinners and four breakfasts at the Evergreen Restaurant. Our first night there we used our dinner vouchers -- and there was a hair in my pasta. The next morning I got coffee and the waitress provided a surprising variety of individually-portioned creamers. I picked a few up to look at the flavors and one looked as if something icky had dried on the side of it. Our final morning there I went to use my spoon to stir creamer into my coffee and there was something green dried to the tip of the spoon. The silver was rolled into the cloth napkins so there's NO WAY that someone should have missed this. The staff was pleasant but the food wasn't the best. Breakfast food was good -- but dinner was disappointing. The pasta was served on a dinner plate and not in a pasta bowl. It had drippy sauce and no "twirling spoon." I'm no food snob, but it felt like it was just flung onto a plate and a shred of curly lettuce thrown onto the side for color. My husband got pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon -- the Calypso Tenderloin. The meat was very dry. You'd figure for being in a marinade and wrapped in bacon that it would retain some moisture -- but it was not the greatest. Overall I would not recommend this place unless you want good blueberry pancakes or a Belgian waffle. That's about it.

Where the customer is never right!
DESCRIPTION: We had a horrible experience at the Mall of America's Cafe Odyssey, and it seems we have not been the only ones by other reviews on the internet. The service, both waiter and manager, were horrible and snobby. The food was unspectacular and the alcoholic drinks were mostly water. After complaining about the miserable meal, the manager still wanted to charge us half for the two dishes and full price for the two drinks we did not find satisfactory. After explaining we would be happy to still pay for the two dishes and drinks that were mediocre but not the other dishes, the manager grew very irritated and snappy and told us he would cover it and asked us never to come back. We assured him that would not be a problem. You would be better off going elsewhere than this horribly expensive and very disappointing shot at a theme restaurant.

DESCRIPTION: The Cafe Odyssey was one of the best restaurants that I have been to. I was sad to see that it has closed. The staff and food was always great. The Ambiance was what made the Cafe better than other places.

Some people can never be satisfied
DESCRIPTION: My husband and I enjoyed not only the food, but the staff, and atmosphere. The food was not the most amazing cuisine I had ever tasted, but it was good. After reading other people's reviews, it seems that although many liked it, some people would complain about anything. Overall we were very satisfied.

A visit....
DESCRIPTION: I was given a gift certificate to Nancy's Landing. Hearing good things about it, I decided to go. The only two things I can say nice about my expierence to the restaurant was the outside dining (on a very nice night) and our waitress. The food was NOT impressive at all! Looked more like it was slopped together and rushed to be served. Well in all honesty, a steak sandwich was a plain piece of toast with a small steak just sitting on top of it. No decoration, no good presentation- $15.95! I will never go back...

Sunday Brunch An Expectant Mother's Delight!!
DESCRIPTION: When I was expecting our 3rd child, we were invited to dine at Nancy's Landing. It was in the deep of winter. I had raging hormones coupled with a wicked bought of morning sickness. When we pulled up to Nancy's Landing, my first impression was that the building needed a scrape, paint and general face-lift. Well, much to my amazement, what I found inside was the best food & atmosphere I have encountered in a long while-- save the Fish House in Wisconsin-- that is superb as well. Here we are two years after my one & so far only dining experience at Nancy's Landing, and I am still recommending it to all of my friends & colleagues!

Restaurant and Town an unknown delight!
DESCRIPTION: I live in Minneapolis by way of NYC. First off, I was pleasantly surprised by Mpls, although cold, for it's size it has a lot of things comparable to NYC, usually excluding the food and extreme late nightlife. But I digress. I was recomended Nancy's Landing by Mpls/St. Paul magazine. My first impression was that this was a bait shop. But, I was shocked to find a chef (Paul), that was at one time nationally known. Excellent food, but I can't imagine why they don't capitalize and rebuild. The repeat business would be mindnumbing. On a sidenote, the quaint town had interesting, historic little shops of every kind, a cathedral style church, and a fabulous lake with a large (inexplicably undeveloped) island. I am considering a summer home there. Bon appetit!

Newly Remodeled in 2005
DESCRIPTION: In May of 2005 Nancy's Landing reopened with a wonderful new menu that still includes some old favorites. The wonderful new deck is perfect for evening dinners watching the sun set. The inside has been updated and is has a warm cozy feel. The Sunday brunch is one of the best in the area. Well worth the beautiful drive to Waconia.
