DESCRIPTION: MAKE A RESERVATION! If not you will probably be turned away. Small Restaurant. Few tables. Few counter seats.Good Authentic Japanese Food. Don't expect some Benihana type restaurant that markets to Americans. Best Sushi near Campus area. Very Inexpensive comparitively. Help yourself drinks from the cooler, as needed. Good daily specials.

DESCRIPTION: Absolutely the best place in town for Sushi. Family atmosphere...Self serve drinks/beer from cooler...Cannot beat the price. However, you must call ahead and it GREATLY helps to be a regular! Very small, but so is Sushi.

Best Sushi in Lexington
DESCRIPTION: Hands down the best in Lexington. The quality of the service, food, and value make this the front-runner in Japanese food in Lexington. Complementary edname (soy beans) and miso soup at the begining of the meal, as well as a wide variety of rolls and sashimi choices at a fair price, make this a value, as well. The setting leaves much to be desired (on a busy street with little parking, in an office building, but near campus). Make reservations, even on 'slow' nights. Bring your own wine, if you want, or, they have Kirin and domestic bottles available. Outstanding!

DESCRIPTION: Yes, the prices are about 20% lower than at other sushi restaurants, and the quality is high. Firstly, the owner is loathe to give reservations on prime dining nights to a party of less than three. She is very anti-customer service, and when you call, you'll realize this. It's a popular place, so she doesn't have to be that nice. Secondly, Dont make any plans. Your order will take as long as it takes. I dined there last week and we waited over an hour to get our order. It is prepared by an older gentleman, who I presume to be the co-owner. This was not the first time I waited a long time. Thirdly, They accept cash or check only. You'll run to the ATM if you forget this. One time I was there it was a real inconvenience. The food itself is fine. Tightly rolled maki was flavorful and fresh. The spicy tuna rolls were not really that spicy, and they used some sort of nonstandard sauce. The nigiri cuts were generous and flavorful, though they went overboard on the wasabi. We were also served a wonderful miso soup and cold spinach salad that was light and refreshing. Overall, however, I reccomend you not to waste your time with Seki's poor attitude.

Good Place
DESCRIPTION: I enjoy Nagasaki Inn. They have sushi, katsu, steaks, and other traditional foods. The building is nice and it is located next door to a Japanese grocer. They have carryout and dine-in. My favorite is the tonkatsu and tempura. The people are friendly and there are SOME Japanese-Americans from Japan, so you can interact with true Japanese culture. They have sake and other drinks - like Coke, Budweiser, Sapporo drinks, or tea. They have desserts, maybe 3 or 4. I have never tasted the desserts. Overall, it is a good place to eat and have a dinner. I love it.

Horrible Experience
DESCRIPTION: Now, I am not one to give a bad review to a restaurant based on a single experience. Everyone can have a bad day and every restaurant will have its problems from time to time. This being said, I have now experienced three (3) absolutely nightmarish lunches at Nagasaki Inn. I am done. No more chances, guys. I would feel like an idiot if I ever darkened your doorway again. The first two experiences were bad, but let me tell you about my most recent trip: Several co-workers and myself went for lunch and were seated at the Hibachi table and served our drinks. We placed our orders (most of us ordering chicken) and quickly ate our (delicious) salads and (flavorless)soups. Then the hibachi chef appeared and went to work. HE USED THE SAME SPATULA ON THE RAW CHICKEN & ON THE VEGETABLES AND HE SERVED THE COOKED CHICKEN & VEGETABLES WITH THE SPATULA HE'D USED ON THE RAW CHICKEN. As if this wasn't gross enough, the chicken was bright pink in the center. Medium-rare! Well, I couldn't eat it and didn't. Some of my co-workers did, though and they were not feeling so great later in the day. In fact, we all got sick and swore never to go back. That wasn't the worst part of the experience, however. After we were served the uncooked chicken and tainted vegetables, the chef proceeded to "clean off" the grill by squirting soapy water on it and scraping it with a metal scraper. Much steam was produced from the hot grill and water and when he began carelessly wiping the grill, he splashed scalding hot, soapy water on our food and on my friend's new white shirt. We never saw a manager (or we would have complained) and when we got back to work, my friend called Nagasaki Inn and spoke with the manager about the situation. She was not apologetic, she didn't care and she had no suggestions on how to get the spot out of the shirt. Never mind that we paid a lot of money for food we couldn't even eat. The manager didn't care at all about all of the untouched raw meat on our plates. So we called the Health Department on them. Guess what? They told us that there had been many complaints about cross contamination and undercooked food on the hibachi table. Stay away.

Wonderful!!!!
DESCRIPTION: I went here on my birthday not really expecting much, but I had a pleasant surprise. We were attended to instantly. The people were so sweet, and the food was great. However, the best part was the show while they were cooking. It was very entertaining and made every person at the table feel special, expecially me(the birthday girl)!

VERY POOR SERVICE - VIRTUALLY IGNORED BY SUSHI CHEFS
DESCRIPTION: I went to Miyako on my lunch hour at work and the service was very poor even though the restaurant was not that busy. The sushi chefs totally ignored me. I sat for approx. 20 minutes and finally got up, told the hostess I had to leave, that I had wasted almost half my lunch time. She was not very apologetic, just sort of shrugged and said you were supposed to talk to the sushi chef. I told her I had been completely ignored and she just said "sorry". I will not go back. ERM
