Very Nice Alternative to Burger King/McDonalds
DESCRIPTION: This is a very nice fast food restaurant (sort of a Subway with class). Their flatbread sandwiches are really good (specially the Bison meat). The traditional pizza is excellent. There is plenty of space and the kids seem to like the toy train. This is one fast food restaurant that I dont feel guilty about going to. The only caveat is that it is slightly more expensive than BK or McDonalds.

Much More Expensive than BK or McDonalds
DESCRIPTION: While the food is much better than a fast-food burger joint, it is definitely much more expensive. Expect to pay about $8 per person for lunch. It's a popular hang-out for the stay-at-home-mom crowd and their charges during weekdays at lunch. Definitely kid-friendly, but not necessarily budget-friendly.

DESCRIPTION: At last, a health food restaurant that doesn't serve cardboard-tasting entries. Stonyfield Farms (organic yogurt) CEO Gary Hirshberg has brought a visionary approach to healthy fast food at his newest healthy endeavor, O'Naturals, by bringing in chefs to expertly mix the organic with flavorful selections. All sandwiches are made with flatbread (organic, unbleached and unbrominated flour with germ, honey sea salt, olive oil and yeast with a sourdough-like taste). Ample selections such as pesto chicken, wild prairie raised bison meatloaf and wild Alaskan salmon with a pan Asian marinade are simply fantastic, raising the question: why go anywhere else for lunch? Add to the sandwiches fresh root vegetables, organic goat cheese, organic hummus, fresh red peppers, sharp cheddar cheese (maybe not on the salmon) and you have an entree competing for the top spot in Boston area dining -- the more expensive establishments included. Tossed salads are also delicious, as are the Asians noodles and soups (carrot ginger, butternut apple squash, Maryland crab, cream of asparagus. etc.). Highly recommended for dessert are the incomparable and very large chocolate chip cookie and chocolate brownies. Delicious organic flatbread pizzas are served after 4 p.m. , and coupled with the delicious salads, soups and sandwiches, make for a great casual and inexpensive dinner. O'Naturals also takes in account the fussy child who can only eat macaroni and cheese or grilled cheese -- they have both, as well as a turkey sandwich that could make a believer out of children previously not wanting something so "fowl." To further enhance a child-friendly zone, O'Naturals offers a delicious organic soda fountain and a play area with a couch included. Service is always fully functional and the atmosphere is earthy without being pretentious and elitist. The unfinished concrete floors, light wood tables, recycled wall materials and bookshelves make for a natural, comfortable setting. Pricing is reasonable with most entrees under $7.00 -- remarkable for the high quality of food available. If you think of health food as something boring served by preachy, long-haired, ironically unhealthy looking people, think again. O'Naturals has landed as a superb 21st century restaurant dedicated to friendly, prompt service and some of the best food in the region. You'll feel healthy coming here again and again.

Great Mexican Food on the North Shore
DESCRIPTION: Mexican food pretty close to how my mom cooks. Everything we've ever had here is good. I can't say it the best I've ever had (Mom would be upset if I did) but its certainly the best on the North Shore. The margaritas are good too. The posole is a great soup that will warm you up any winter day. Combine that with a margarita and you'll forget the howling storm outside.

Bad Taste After Fight
DESCRIPTION: A fight caused by patrons of Jalapenos (and obviously friends of the owner) ruined what should have been a wonderful evening. The fight was one thing, but when the owner ushered the perpetrators of the fight, who sucker punched an older man out front and then teamed up on his son, back into his restaurant and allowed them to continue drinking, I was totally turned off. I asked him before leaving if maybe he should eject (86) such customers; he just smiled and shrugged his shoulders. An innocent man beaten up, his son beaten up, and the ones who started it sit down happily and enjoy the night? I`ll never return, and for those of you who do return, be careful! Those thugs may be sitting right beside you.

Spoil Yourself
DESCRIPTION: For a truly wonderful experience, stay a night at the Deerfield Inn. But since this is a restaurant review... The Deerfield Inn's dining room (open to the public, reservations strongly recommended) provides the textbook definition of ambience and service. DESCRIPTION: Just returned from a weekend in Wellfleet. On our last visit we were told to try the Wicked Oyster from a neighbor who knew the owner. Great find. Went for breakfast. My favorite South Shore Restaurant
DESCRIPTION: My husband, children and I have been dining at Vin and Eddie's for several years. They have absolutely fabulous Italian food. They bread basket is second to none in this area. My favorite in the bread basket is the onion bread, but running a very close second is the bread sticks. My favorite meal there is the Maple Roast Pork. My children love the chicken parm and my husband loves everything else! The food and service are perfect during the week, but during the weekend the restaurant tends to be extremely busy, thus the service is a little slower and the food not always as hot at it should be. We love this restaurant and urge everyone to give it a try! The desserts are to die for!

Birthday Nightmare
DESCRIPTION: We usually go here for each one's birthdays but no more. We had reservations Tuesday, July 26, 2005 for 6 people. We arrived on time and stood in front of the hostess and 2 waitresses for 10 minutes before they said, "I'll be right with you." We were finally seated and waited another 15 min before someone took our drink order (the hostess, who was clearly not happy about doing so to the point it made us uncomfortable). After getting drinks, it was another 1/2 hr. before someone took our appetizer order. Another 20/30 they came back with a few tidbits of bread and told us there were no scallops (one of our appetizers). The hostess came back and explained that they were really busy with a party that was supposed to be 10-12 people instead there were 32. Isn't a restaurant supposed to accomodate? It quickly became all of our problem. Appetizers were good except bruschetta; we could hardly bite it. Food finally ordered and came at 9:20 (different waitress). She was angry at customers at another table because their order had been had messed up. Not their fault. Then my husband made the ultimate misake. He asked for more bread. "Oh my God! Bread," she snapped at him, and said "We are out of bread." He asked her how could they run out of bread on a Tuesday night. She got angry and said "Look, we don't have to give you bread; it is complimentary and a courtesy." (Even though we spent $300.00.) Then she asked him if he was going to let having no bread ruin his whole happy meal. How dare she! We were then askd by the hostess if we needed dessert. We said "No," and said we needed the check. Our stupid mistake was leaving a tip. We left the restaurant finally at 9:55. We will not return. Maybe they were having a bad night but that is not our fault. We are not rude people and did not ask for a lot. We should not have been treated like that. The last time we went we had a great waitress who had a lot of fun with us. This was my birthday and my children came up with the money for this night out. I am not asking for a refund but we will not be back.

Have the Lunch Buffet
DESCRIPTION: The lunch buffet is great and it's low priced. It is constantly restocked and includes things like crab rangoon, fried rice, peking ravoli, and vegetables to name a few. It also has desert including coconut soft serve ice cream. It is a must try but as a warning it is very sweet. It is decorated nicely as well.

Not Impressive
DESCRIPTION: I love Chinese food but have never been impressed at Hunan. The service is great but the food is mediocre at best and always makes me feel like I have a brick in my stomach afterwards. Some of our friends swear by it, but I am not partial to it at all.

DESCRIPTION: Pizza is far better than any other pizza I've ever had. Something about the basic combo of cheese, sauce, and crust. Don't bother getting toppings, since they will dull down what makes the pizza original, and make it taste like any old other pizza. Servings for single slices are 1/4 of a large pizza, 1 or 2 slices feed most people. Very good prices. Also, Sal's just pizza also has sandwiches, calzones, desserts, etc. The name is slightly misleading.

Disappointed
DESCRIPTION: After reading the great reviews here, my husband and I went to Livingtones for our 20th anniversary. The power went out right after we were served our salads and from that point on the waitresses were annoyed and let it show. We were served our entrees in the dark and then rushed out of the restaurant. We were served our check practically with our entree. The management made no apologies to the diners and have not answered a written complaint I sent them. It's hard to commment on the food when I could barely see it and was rushed thru dinner.

Truly First Rate
DESCRIPTION: We've dined in restaurants throughout the world, from Tour d'Argent in Paris to the Turtle Creek in Dallas, and our experience at Livingstones was among the better. First, the kitchen was very accomodating - the menu offerings included chicken marsala and veal parmagiana; my preference for veal marsala was accomodated without hesitation - and it was the best version of the dish I've ever enjoyed. One of the hallmarks of an excellent restaurant is the kitchen's ability to accomodate any meal request provided they have the ingredients - kudos to the chef! Our server had a tart sense of humor (this is perhaps not a place for those who crave white-glove deferential service) and performed her job in a timely and efficient manner; other staff pitched in as necessary to ensure that we had everything we needed when we needed it. The atmosphere is very welcoming - I was wearing a sweatshirt that evening and was made to feel as valued as if I were wearing a suit and tie (as some people were). In sum, Livingstone's is a rare find and I can recommend it enthusiastically and wholeheartedly.

Fantastic Food, Good Prices
DESCRIPTION: Reds is an institution in Salem. This restaurant has been serving up the finest breakfast and lunch for years. Try their chicken or tuna club sandwiches - excellent. Their omelets are to die for. Great soups and salads. All in all, a great place for a quick bite in a pleasant although sometimes noisy atmosphere. This is a great place for the family and all dishes can be put up. Try it once and you will be back.

Great Find on the Island
DESCRIPTION: We were a large party at this restaurant of 8 people and everyone loved their meals. The petit filet mignon and stuffed lobster tail was delicious and very reasonably priced. Awesome Authentic German
DESCRIPTION: Love this place! We always stop here to eat after ski trips to Vermont. Great service, ambiance, and food. We have NEVER been disappointed. February is game month and the special menu features ostrich, bear, bison, antelope, and sometimes elk (my favorite). Great selection of beers. Be sure to try the house dressing - loaded with roquefort cheese, it is sure to please (hey I'm a poet)! Be sure to make reservations, the place is ALWAYS packed.
