The Best in Mexican
DESCRIPTION: El Porton has been my family's favorite Mexican restaurant since it first opened! They have the best white cheese dip ever! And for those that like to have a cocktail with their dinner, try the frozen Margaritta...It will knock your socks off! The portions are perfect. You will not leave here disappointed!

I guess watching the soccer game is more important than serving customers
DESCRIPTION: I am of Hispanic origin and on the night of my graduation I thought I'd give El Porton a try. It seemed close to authentic, food was great, they give you large helpings and everything. But the table we sat at was by the bar and close to the kitchen. There wasn't many people in the restaurant so the waiters sat by the bar watching a soccer game. I found it rude that the waiters take advantage of some of their customers not being able to speak Spanish, they were cussing up a storm. With children present, might I add. The service was awful, our drinks stayed empty most of the time, not even toritas were given to us when we got our fajita plates. It was awful, the waiters just sat around cussing, watching the soccer game and worst of all..ignoring us. One of my party members, desperate for service even asked a waiter at the bar. He acted as if he didn't hear her. At the end of the meal my father was angry and started to complain. We ended up getting a discount, only paying somewhere around $47 dollars for 5 of us. Even though the food was good, we can go somewhere else for good food and get great service. But that restaurant seems that its gotten too big to even realize what made them what they are today, their customers.

Taco Tico nasty place to eat
DESCRIPTION: My husband and I went to Taco Tico on Stateline Ave. to eat supper last saturday night May 1,2004, we got our food, and went to find a seat, we could not find one every single table was dirty and this was at 11:00 p.m. and there were only 2 families eating there, so there was no need for all of the tables to be dirty. The floors looked like they haven't been swept all day, there was Coke spilt in the floors; no wet floor sign; although the Coke was dried up, there were napkins soaked with Coke on the Coke machine stuffed in the bottom of the drain. The part that made me so angry is that there were at least 4 employees there working that night and the one that was taking the orders was sitting at a table talking to a friend. The owner of this restaurant needs to know what his employees are doing and of course it wasn't working. To talk about the food it was nasty. The meat in the taco's tasted very old and when we did get our order we had to eat the taco's with a fork because they were broken. Now when I go to a restuarant and spend $20.00 for one meal I expect it to be edible. I will never go to this restaurant again unless there are some changes made. They seriously need a health inspector inspect this restaurant.

LaCarreta - A Tex-Mex Classic
DESCRIPTION: La Carreta is undoubtable one of the best TexMex places around. Unbeatble value, awesome entree's, free handmade tortillas, the works. Favorites include: Botanas Platter, Frozen Margaritas, Tortilla Soup, Queso Enchiladas. Atmosphere is fun and friendly, service is dependable. You can't go wrong with this place!

Great Tex-Mex eating
DESCRIPTION: Of all the Mexican restaurants in Texarkana this one is my favorite. The Manager takes personal interest in his dining customers. Complimentary ice cream and sopaipillas.

My first time at La Casa Rosa
DESCRIPTION: The food was unacceptable for the kind of money you spend at this restaurant. I found it to be overcooked and dull. The service was poor and the atmosphere uninviting.
