"Spaghetti with Meat Sauce" from Thai Secret, Manassas, VA
1/4 c Olive oil 1 1/2 lb Ground beef 1/2 c Onion,finely chopped 2 Cloves garlic,finely chopped 3 cn Tomato sauce(8oz) 1 cn Mushroom stems/pieces(4oz) 1/2 c Green pepper,finely chopped 1/4 c Snipped parsley 2 1/2 ts Salt 1/2 ts Ground pepper 1/4 ts Sugar 1/8 ts Dried basil leaves 1/8 ts Ground oregano 1 c Dry red wine 1 pk Spaghetti(16oz) Grated Parmesan cheese Heat oil in Dutch oven. Cook and stir beef, onion and garlic in hot oil until beef is light brown; drain off fat. Stir in tomato sauce, mushrooms (with liquid), green pepper, parsley, salt, pepper, sugar, basil and oregano. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, 1 hour. Stir in wine. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes. Uncover and simmer, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes longer. While sauce is simmering, cook spaghetti as directed on package; drain but do not rinse. Pour meat sauce over hot spaghetti. Servewith cheese.

DESCRIPTION: Pho 75 is a chain in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. I've only eaten at this one, so I can only assume the others are as good. Out of all the local Vietnamese restaurants that serve pho, Pho 75 has the best I've tasted in America. There's nothing that quite beats walking in on a cold winter Saturday for lunch and smelling the soup the moment you open the door. As outstanding as the soup is, the service is pretty standard -- nothing special. Pricewise, you can't go wrong -- a small bowl (plenty filling for most people) is under $5 with complimentary tea. Keep in mind, though, that you're not going to get anything other than soup here. If you plan on coming for lunch, plan an early or late lunch -- at 1:30 one Saturday afternoon, there was a line stretching out the door. The Pho restauarant across the street (Pho Hiep Hoa) is almost always empty, though the soup is not quite as good

DESCRIPTION: The best Thai I have ever had was in Berlin, but this is definitely not a place to turn down. My favorite is the Chicken Penang, which I recommend extra spicy if you like hot foods. There is a nice lady who has been serving us every time we go and she is very helpful to people new to the restaurant and those unfamiliar with the cuisine. The atmosphere is a nice touch and the menu includes a nice variety of standard Thai dishes. I get cravings for certain foods every now and then, and whenever I want Thai it's definitely here that I go.
