The Best Sushi

Decent Neighborhood Korean and Japanese.
DESCRIPTION: If you happen to be in Brookline Village, and are looking for Korean and Japanese food, Zen 320 isn't a bad choice. It's not the best sushi in Boston, or even in Brookline (Oishii, Ginza, and Fugakyu would win easily, and I can think of several others that would be arguably better), or even in Brookline Village (I think Yokohama would win), but it is decent, and the pretty good Korean dishes are a bonus. When the restaurant opened, they were offering a half-price sushi special. If that special is still in effect, then I can't think of a better sushi value in Brookline. When you're paying bargain prices, it doesn't matter if the fish isn't cut as skillfully as at other restaurants, or if the rice isn't done quite as well. The Korean dishes were fine, although they also were not on a par with the best in the area -- and they weren't particularly inexpensive.

Great value at 1/2 off, if you can put up with the lack of service
DESCRIPTION: Great sushi selection, and yummy complimentary salads if you eat-in. It's not quite Ginza, but at 1/2 off it's by far the best value sushi we've found! However, if they stop running the 1/2 off promotion, it won't be worth the hassle. The service leaves a lot to be desired! They take their time taking orders, and you never know if your food will come out in 5 minutes or 45 minutes! I have also experiences and observed mistakes on the bill, during a number of occasions. If you order take-out, be prepared to wait! They never start the order until you get there (whether you call 10 minutes before, or an hour before!) All that said, at half off, I keep going back! I guess I'm willing to suffer a little for good, cheap sushi.

Complete agreement
DESCRIPTION: I work around the corner, and my co-workers and I agree with all previous reviews. The sushi is suprisingly good for the half off prices (which are still in effect as of 9/23/03). The service is terrible, as noted. We usually call in about 40 minutes before we want to eat, and then go pick it up, so that we don't have to wait. As above, the Korean dishes are ok. But if you even one diner is interested in sushi, the price is right.

Fantastic Sushi, Great People
DESCRIPTION: The sushi is excellent, and right now it's half-price (they opened several months ago and are still running the special). I'd eat there even if it wasn't half-price though. The sushi chef is talented AND very, very nice. You may have to wait a bit on a busy night, but it's worth it. I'd recommend going early, or other than Fri/Sat. They have many varieties of sake AND Korean wine.

Great, with growing pains
DESCRIPTION: The sushi is fantastic, and the chef is great. Honestly, the sushi is outstanding, and the chef takes pride in his work. They *are* still going through some growing pains, so if you go during a busy time you may have to wait. I did encounter one disastrous service evening, but that's because they had a brand new waitress. I've had excellent food always, and excellent service during less-busy times. I honestly think they just need a bit more business to get over the hump and hire more servers.

Great Food, Great Price
DESCRIPTION: My husband and I had a geat meal at Benkay. The atmosphere was very nice. We had Teriyaki Chicken and Teriyaki Steak and Shrimp. The portions were a nice size and it came with soup and salad. The orange ginger dressing was very good. It was delicious and very reasonably priced. We plan to be regulars at Benkay.

Best Place for Japanese in Nashville
DESCRIPTION: Four months ago I was introduced to the world of Japanese food. I did not just put my toe in, I dove headfirst. Benkay is by far my favorite. The sushi is superb and is perfectly sized (cough::Osaka::cough), best miso ever, and their Udon's are great! Everything is fresh and now they have a market next door! Their prices are extremely reasonable. A Bento for me is always 12.00, and that's with a different sushi. Yum!

Disappointed Honeymooners
DESCRIPTION: My husband and I decided to go to the restaurant after watching the local travel channel. I ordered off the Lobster Cove menu and my husband ordered from the Harry's Sushi menu. They said that it would be no problem since they are technically the same establishment. My lobster/steak dinner arrived before his sushi. I began eating and sharing it with him because who wants to eat a cold dinner right. Well I kid you not...his sushi did not come by the time my dinner was gone. It had been at least 45 minutes after my plate was served. We were so upset and they did not offer anything but to have the chef make something else for him instead to take with us. Like we really wanted to wait any longer. It was very very disappointing. They never made us pay for his order (since he never received it) but we still walked out $60 later and he never even had dinner. Ouch!

Some of the Best Sushi in the World
DESCRIPTION: This is one of the best Sushi Restaurant's I have ever eaten at. The atmosphere is wonderful. A fountain inside greets you along with a giant statue of a geisha girl. All of the staff is Japanese to keep with the authenticity of it. There are many things you can order but most people go here for the sushi. It is very reasonably priced and for every three orders you receive a free bowl of soup and a salad. Both are very delicious. Some of the best sushi items to get are not even listed on the menu. There is wooden board on the wall to explain about these items. I recommend the Spicy Tuna Tempura, Crafish Roll, and the Volcano Roll.
