The best Mexican
DESCRIPTION: Ole Ole by far has the best Mexican food, I had the deluxe fajitas, which includes chicken, steak, shrimp and bbq ribs and loved it all. My favorite drink there is the Ole Ole signature sangria, made from scratch was what I was told and I loved it!!!!! I felt like I was in Aculpulco with the views of walled lake from every window, and the live Mariachi band they have there on Fridays from 7pm-9pm was perfect. reservations reccomended

Old-style Mexican
DESCRIPTION: Tios is another Ann Arbor institution, making mexican food the same way for decades. That means lots of lard, heavy on the cheese, and not a lot of quality ingredients. If you want something fresher, try Sabor Latino or La Fiesta Mexicana (in nearby Ypsilanti). However, Tios does deliver -- almost your only option besides pizza -- are open very late (4 am?), and have an amazing collection of hot sauce: Ask for the bucket of hot sauces, and enjoy some excellent experiments with your meal. Hot sauce tastings are provided once per month. Atmosephere is a mix of greasy spoon and diner. Service is functional. If you like hot sauces, it's worth a visit.

Great Mexican
DESCRIPTION: This place has the best fajitas that I've had at any Mexican restaurant, but anything else I've tried hasn't been the best. Go for the fajitas!

DESCRIPTION: They have great chips and Salsa, however when they give you chips, they tease you. The chips are all nice on the top, and once you get past the top layer it's all crumbs. All the other food is great. Bad that they charge for sour cream though. Only real bad thing is the service.

DESCRIPTION: Portions are huge. Service is always good. Recommend the Mexican Pizza, and the Chili Releno! Love the queso and the different salsas (a few times the chips were either stale or overcooked. But the waitstaff always remedies with a smile.) Also on my birthday, the waiter was nice enough to surprise me at the end with a free Fried Ice Cream- this is a favorite as well. (I was already stuffed but didnt want to be rude so i forced down a few bites)

Indifferent staff and mediocre food made for a poor experience
DESCRIPTION: I really hate to give any restaurant a bad review, but after the experience my wife and I had at the Lazy Lizard Cantina, I can't do anything but give it failing marks. What we encountered left me feeling that the staff at this establishment has a lot to learn about customer service and food preparation. I should have known we were in for an experience that would be unpleasantly memorable when our appetizer, "Texas Cheese Toast", arrived burnt. Carbon black burnt bread, with the dish's cheese sauce and peppers poured over it. The replacement serving arrived with the exact opposite problem. It was plain bread (or "raw toast" as we jokingly described it to each other) with cheese melted on it. Really, how hard is it to make toast? This time, we asked to speak to the manager. After he asked if we wanted them to try again (which we politely declined), he said he'd take it off the bill, turned on his heel and disappeared, not to be seen or heard from again- there was no follow-up at all. We were fortunate that we were sitting next to one of the waitstaff's supply stations- the waiter didn't provide tableware when we were seated or when the appetizer arrived. Aside from when he came by to take our order, he did not stop by our table to see whether we wanted to order anything else, or how we were doing. Once we placed our order, if we saw him again, it was because we initiated contact. My wife and I each ordered an enchilada combo. Mine ("Siete") consisted of three enchiladas: one crawdad, one chicken, and one cheese and onion, surrounded by the typical refried beans and Spanish rice. The one positive thing that I can say about the food was that the chicken enchilada didn't suffer from being over-salted, a problem I've noted at other places. The cheese and onion enchilada was essentially half-missing: there was cheese, but no trace of onion or onion flavor. The crawdad enchilada wasn't unpleasant, but wasn't very interesting. Its filling tasted most like a fairly non-descript thickened tomato soup, with 12-15 very tiny pieces of meat that reminded me of undersized salad shrimp, mixed in. My wife's vegetable enchilada combo ("Ocho") was fairly bland, saved only by adding the leftover salsa from the chips and salsa we received when we were seated. A word of caution to anyone who might mistake this dish for actually being vegetarisn- its one interesting flavor was the taste of bacon in the refried beans. As for the atmosphere, it is basically what it tries to be: a garden variety restaurant and bar. I thought that the noise level was excessive, despite the restaurant only being about three quarters full. I don't expect to be waited on hand and foot, with rose petals scattered in my path when I visit an inexpensive Mexican joint, but as part of going to a restaurant, I do expect at least a basic level of customer service and at least some degree of competence from the kitchen. This was missing from our experience. There are so many restaurants in the Grand River Ave/Novi Road/I-96 area (a couple of which are also Tex-Mex) that I can't think of any good reason to return to this one.

Karaoke night rocks
DESCRIPTION: A great Karaoke night -- lively, nothing held back by the audience. Some people can actually sing, but what's the point of that? Attached to a bowling alley if you need further diversion.
