Greedy for Money
DESCRIPTION: In spite of average food and not great service we paid a good tip for 4 people, but the waiter demanded more money. How rude. So he forced us to shell out $25 for 4 people. Good way of robbing people. Way to go Green Papaya.

Uh, Can You Say Tightwad?
DESCRIPTION: Hey "Greedy for Money", you were *forced* to pay $6.00 per person and you call it robbery? That included a good tip? It seems you got off pretty cheap, even if you thought the food was overage. You can't get crappy fast food for less than $6.00 per person (which doesn't include a tip). Did the waiter hold you at gunpoint? How did he force you to leave a tip? I have a feeling that you may have been the ones who were rude. I have no vested interest in Green Papaya, other than having been there and think its tasty.

Good Thai
DESCRIPTION: A good basic Thai restaurant in Arlington Heights. Nothing fancy here, but it rarely disappoints. The only disappointment that comes to mind was the Pad Thai - I've had better. But other dishes, especially the seafood options, shine.

Live and Let Thai
DESCRIPTION: This was the first time I had ever had Thai food. It's nothing like I thought it would be. I didn't really know what to expect, but I assumed that it may be closely related to Chinese or Japanese food. I decided to try the Country Duck, which was quite good, but a tad spicy, so for those who do not like spicy food you may want to stay clear of this one. I should also point out that the atmosphere and service was quite good, but nothing unexpected or out of the ordinary. Very comfortable place to dine.

Cho Chee Me
DESCRIPTION: Have been taking out from Rama Thai for months. Recently sat down for dinner there. I had the Duck Cho Chee - which was not too spicy, so if you want spicy food ask for more. Waitress was a tad spicy too. Comfortable place for family dining.

Amazing Abba
DESCRIPTION: This is a very unique restaurant. The chef/owner is very talented and worldly. The dining room is sumptious and makes you not want to go! Cocktails are a must and the wine list is brilliant.

Great Chow, but Too Crowded
DESCRIPTION: I've been to Abba three times and I won't go back. Don't get me wrong, the food is good and the place is attractive, but a reservation for 8:00 has consistently meant a 30-40 minute wait (in the winter, it means a 30-40 minute wait in a bar that's the size of a phone booth with a large crowd of other hot, hungry people - and their elbows - who are constantly being shuffled about by the servers passing through to take drinks out to diners). If this kind of thing does not bother you, then by all means go to Abba. But if your expect an 8:00 reservation to mean that you'll actually be able to sit down at a table at that time, and if you expect not to be jostled and elbowed in a tiny, tiny bar area prior to sitting down elbow-to-elbow with your fellow diners, then give this place a miss.

Fine Thai in the 'Burbs
DESCRIPTION: Lemon Grass is a converted Pewter Pot (remember those?), and its origins are obvious, although there are Thai decorations superimposed. It is hard to stray from my usual test meals for any Thai restaurant: the ubiquitous pahd Thai, tom kha gai, and Thai tea. I must say the first time I tried the first two here, they were good but lacked the subtle nuances that would make them great. Subsequently, they have vacillated from good to excellent, and I cannot pin down any pattern for this. We recently tried the green papaya salad and the seaweed salad, and they were good--worth repeats. The former has a but more viscous sauce than the one in Lemon Tree (related restaurant in Burlington). It is a nice, light and piquant counterpoint to the pahd Thai. The latter was also quite good, and surprisingly featured sesame oil.... We also tried the mango fried rice. It was bland but comforting the first time we had it, with a mild curry flavor (meaning Indian curry, not a particularly Thai taste). I brought my 10-y-o daughter back to try it, and she did not approve. It seemed even blander the second time and unremarkable. We also ordered the chicken satay for her, and she seemed to enjoy that. The service is usually good, but the last time I was there, we waited absolutely forever both to get our meals and to get the check.

The Worst Pahd Thai I've Ever Had
DESCRIPTION: Hoped to finally find a replacement for Thai since relocating to the area. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place at all. I ordered pahd Thai - vegetarian - and it was the most bland and egg-centric pahd Thai I've ever had. Yuck, could only eat a few bites. Moved on to my wife's vegetable curry but this was also very bland. I am never going back.

Pretty Good Thai for Boston Suburbs
DESCRIPTION: I used to live in the San Francisco Bay area so I am used to good Thai food. After moving to Boston it took a while to find good Thai food in the suburbs. Lemon Grass is one of the better ones.

Raw Chicken, Then....
DESCRIPTION: When I ordered the salad with chicken and peanut, it arrived raw (pink and fleshy) in the middle. It was difficult to convince the manager I would not eat undercooked chicken. Their response was to run it under the microwave, where it got good and dry...The pad is totally indifferent. Soggy, not fluffy and very few shrimp.

Horrific
DESCRIPTION: My husband and I would be classified as "foodies." We eat out often and are very understanding of what occurs in a busy restaurant but we all have our limits. We attempted to eat dinner last night at Lemon Grass for the first time as it has a good reputation, etc. We were seated for over an hour and did not have our meal or any idea if it would ever arrive. My husband and I witnessed over 22 people get up and leave within the time we were there - it became a game and each time people would leave they would convince those patrons entering to choose another location in the center. Finally after asking simply the status on our meals - we left a $20 on the table to cover our appetizers and a tip. The poor staff was overwhelmed with 2 waitresses to service the entire restaurant, seat patrons and handle take out. Where was a manager or owner on a busy Friday night? From 6:30-8pm we were succesfully served a drink and appetizer and thanks to a nearby takeout restaurant we were able to make it home to the babysitter and finally eat dinner. Wish I could rate the food - the appetizers were ok.
