DESCRIPTION: My friend and I went to VA for the day of shopping from NC with our daughters and at the end of "girls day out" we decided to stop @the Olive Garden at Greenbrier Parkway. We arrived at 6:30 and was seated @ 7:15. Our order was placed @7:30. While sitting in the section the hostess seated us the cold air was very chilling. We asked our waiter if the heat could be turned up and he checked w/the manager on duty. Her name was Gwen Jarvis. Still waiting for our food and freezing, we had a conversation with another customer who was sitting next to us. She mentioned that a couple of weeks ago she and her daughter were sitting at the same table we were and had to be moved and received her food almost 2hrs after ordering and they ended up getting their order at no charge. Well, the manager finally came over and we asked her about the heat and she stated to us that she would take care of it. At no time did we see her adjust the air/heat control. We had to go in the restroom, where it was a lot warmer, in order to get heat. While in the reception area, another customer had been served drinks to the point where she vomited all over the reception area, the beginning of the restroom and on a customer. This mess was not immediately cleaned. After all of this occured, food still has not been served, we asked to be moved to a different section. They did move us and our order was delivered at approximately 8:15. We enjoyed the meal. At the end of our dinner, the waiter brought us our checks and they were the checks that belonged to someone else. The manager, Gwen Jarvis came to our table and said because of the inconvenience that we had she took 6% off each of our bills. We were at that time satisfied. But prior to us leaving the establishment, she came back to our table and said "we really shouldn't teach our children to say they were going to try to get a free meal". I at that time said, "excuse me?" She said that one of the buss boys came to her stating that our children had said that. And she said the same thing. Our satisfied night just turned into the night from "Hell". That manager had just costed our waiter his tip. As we were walking out of the resturant, I stayed behind because I wanted to ask Ms. Jarvis how could she say something like that to her customers? At that time she told me that I shouldn't worry that it wasn't my child that made the comment about the free meal. I told her it was none of the children. Then she said to me that it was the "little white girl" that said it. I advised her that Olive Garden will not be getting anymore of my business. I went out to my friend's veh, who is white, and advised her of what Ms. Jarvis stated. My friend went into the resturant and said a couple of words to her as well. She told her that none of us was allowed back in the resturant and that she was going to call the cops. We left. This happened on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002. I have told over 50 people, who do go to the Olive Garden in Chesapeake about this ordeal and they will not be going back as well. Just think, if I told that many, and they tell that many, look at the business this chain will be missing. DESCRIPTION: What I like about the Olive Garden in our area is when they have empty tables all around and you are waiting to be seated for 20 to 30 minutes. There is nothing more aggravating than waiting for a table when there are plenty to sit at. Excuse, not enough staff. I really don't go often because it is always something.

best food and very best service
DESCRIPTION: On Sunday at 12:30 P.M. in the Greenbrier Mall facility we had the very best time celebrating a family event. Our server met and exceeded our expectations. Robert P. served each of the fifteen of us special and helped to make my entertaining so perfect. From the point of meeting and exceeding our hopes for a good get together to the feeling that the cook may have been there just for us. The hostesses were each very professional and helpful despite having a disgrantaled visitor wonderfully and very tactfully handled to our perfect server Robert P. Great Restaurant
DESCRIPTION: I am from colorado. The Olive Garden that I went to with my friend was the best experience I have had. Our waiter was very polite and attentive. When I go there always have the Chicken Marsala and Taramasui for dessert. The price was just right for the two of us and I will go back again.

AVOID THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COSTS!!
DESCRIPTION: On Monday, Spetember 29, 2003 my date and I had what passed as dinner at this restaurant. We sat for 20 minutes before being seated even though there were empty tables. We placed our orders and waited. I ordered a custom made pizza and agreed to pay the additional charge so I could share the salad with my date. While we waited an interminably long time (20-25 minutes) for our entrees we had to ask for more salad and breadsticks and had to ask another waitress passing by to grate some cheese onto the salad for us. (Our waitress had forgotten her grater and never reappeared with it.) Our water, wine, and iced tea glasses were never replenished nor was the offer to do so made. My date's entree arrived a full 18 minutes ahead of mine. I was very surprised to see the waitress show up with one entree so I kept track of the time. By the time my entree was served he was finished with his. I ordered the custom made pizza and it arrived with the wrong toppings. I was too hungry to care and ate it. We ordered a dessert to split. The tiramisu arrived frozen and without additional silverware to eat it, even though 2 forks were promised. The only thing that arrived in a timely manner and complete and accurate was the bill. No adjustments were made for the poor service. While the entrees were quite good the service was lousy! I will not be going back, ever! Whoever runs this place and allows these gross errors in basic restaurant service should probably be replaced.

Good Times!!
DESCRIPTION: Well I was just sitting here reading everyone's responses and I thought that as a worker at this Olive Garden, I want to be heard. For those complaining about the authenticity...your not in Italy. For the great low prices, I think the food is wonderful. Our recipies are sent to us from Italy...but hey, if you want us to ship everything directly from Italy, your gonna pay for it. As for the woman feeling that she wanted to "step to the manager, and stand up for her daughter," if I came up to you at your job and got an attitude and tried to justify my thoughts, you would do the same. There is no reason to make a scene, get over it, be an adult and write headquarters. That way you get justice, not embarassed. And lastly, when I stand at the door, I say goodbye to literally hundreds of people each night, and I maybe get one or two complants a night. That adds up to a LOT of happy customers

Too slow
DESCRIPTION: I like the Olive Garden's food. The breadsicks and salad are 'to die for' which keeps me coming back. But I swear, every single time I go there, and it doesn't matter what time of the day - for dinner or lunch, or even if I let them know I'm in a hurry, it takes FOREVER. Not just the food, but getting the check, etc. There has to be a faster way to trot out a salad bowl and a hot baset of breadsticks to keep the customer happy for a while.

Jukebox Diner a Treat
DESCRIPTION: The Jukebox Diner on Columbia Pike offers daily specials and a huge menu that includes a "breakfast all day" option. The food is hearty, wholesome, good, and reasonably priced. The service is good and the friendly wait staff welcomes strangers and calls regulars by name. It offers booths and counter stools inside and a beautiful covered outdoor eating area.

Nice Little Diner but . . .
DESCRIPTION: Used to go every weekend, but then it got so crowded we were always seated in the adjacent lounge bar. If I wanted to eat breakfast in a bar, I'd go to a bar, not a diner, thank you! The diner area, while nothing special, is bright and airy while the lounge is dark and morbid. Also, the service got more and more brusque and haphazard. In the lounge, you were often forgotten.

Hunger forced us to leave
DESCRIPTION: We've eaten here before, and the food was very good. Tonight, unfortunately, we didn't get to try it. We called a head, and were seated (on folding chairs) by 7:05, and we placed an order for appetizers at 7:10. At 7:55 we left. Our server never returned, and we were hungry and out of patience. On the plus side, the bartender was very friendly, and while she had never heard of a Nutty Irishman (Bailey's and Frangelico) she was happy to make one once my wife explained it.7

DESCRIPTION: Both times my girlfriend and I went to Chengs the food was great and the service impecable. I also called ahead and had reservations. We got a nice booth. My water was always filled and the appetizers came out in a timely manner and the dinner didn't come out too soon. They gave us enough time to finish our appetizers before bringing out main course. I do have to say that I had to take off my outer shirt because it was extremely hot in there. I believe their A/C was broken.

Chengs Is the best Chinese restaurant in Northern Virginia
DESCRIPTION: The food here is amazing. I have been eating at Chengs since I was 7 and now I am 17 years old. ALthough I still think it is great, it has fallen behind the standard it set in previous years. Before the service was impeccable, and you would never have seen the complaints above. We used to eat at Chengs at least once every week, and the staff knew us by name. Unfortunately our favorite staff members seemed to have moved to pacific rim. Since we moved out of sterling (we now live in herndon) we rarely go there anymore (a couple times a year), but I have yet to have eaten better Chinese food in Virginia. Chengs is a No. VA leg

Good Fish and Chips
DESCRIPTION: When my wife and I crave real fish and chips we head to King's Court. The beer is normally good and cold. The fish and chips are the closest thing to original I have found in the DC area. We normally go early ~5PM and it has always been very quite but I like it like that.

Superb Dining in Fairfax City
DESCRIPTION: Artie's has been a family favorite of ours since it changed from a beer and popcorn-on-the-floor type of fun sandwich place in the mid-1980s into a serious restaurant. Great American Restaurants is the group that owns and runs Artie's (they also run Sweetwater Tavern, Silverado, Mike's American Grill, etc.), but Artie's never feels like a "group" restaurant or a chain place. The service is excellent, and the new decor since a major makeover a couple of years ago is comfortable and elegant without being fussy. But ultimately you come for the food, and Artie's pleases on all counts - you get a great meal and a good value. There's something for everyone on the menu, from steaks and fresh seafood to pasta, burgers, and salads. Don't forget dessert - it's memorable! Highly recommend

A great restaurant
DESCRIPTION: Arties is the jewel in a local group of restaurants around northern Virginia. And it is a jewel. The restaurant is located a little out of the way, which makes it easier for us locals to get into. The food is simply the best the area has to offer. The Louisiana Pasta is very tasty, as well as the smoked salmon salad and the roasted chicken salad. The waiters are gracious and willing to talk, but not pushy. They know their menus. In the dozen times I've been there, I believe they've only mistaken an order once. And for dessert, the chocolate waffle is a chocolate-lover's dream. Prices are reasonable for the outstanding service and quality of food, though they run high for a habitual diner. Exceptional Cuisine
DESCRIPTION: Our family just went to Artie's last night to celebrate my husband's birthday, and it was a perfect pick. The menu is smaller than some restaurants, but everything we've ever ordered (I've visited about half a dozen times over a couple years) has been exceptionally pleasing to the palate. The sauces are exquisite. It's a laid-back atmosphere that offers good service. The only drawback was the noise level, so I might not choose this spot for a romantic first date . . . otherwise, superb!

My favorite
DESCRIPTION: I love Artie's. Among my favorite dishes there are the Ribeye Steak (marinated in something delicious, no sauce needed!), the Salmon Salad (try getting it with a side of the Dijon cream they serve with the Salmon dinner entree), and the pecan-crusted trout. Any fish dish they serve is fabulous. The breads, salads and drinks are also fantastic. Desserts aren't quite of the same level except for the homemade ice creams and the chocolate waffle, but who has room for dessert? Drawbacks? Smoking allowed in the bar, which is open to the dining room; bar often hosts parties and can be very noisy; worst: restaurant is too popular, and sometimes it's a 90 minute wait to get in! They need to start taking reservations rather than just call-ahead seating. But the fight for a table oughta tell you something.

DESCRIPTION: Dear Reader, I used to live in Brandermill (The small neigborhood around Sunday Park). The area is full of great views. Trees line the lake and bke paths offer a view of the lake that not everyone can see. The food is EXCELLENT. Brunch is usualy served in a buffet and has such things as fresh fruit, bagels, and just about anything you would ever want. THe outdoor dining dock is well shaded and still has an excellent view of the sunset over the lake. And don't worry about the bugs. I do not belive I have ever had one bother me while eating there. I highly recomend it.

New To Sunday Park
DESCRIPTION: Dear Reader, This is one of the best resturants in Chesterfield County, VA. The atmosphere is beautiful, even before you get into the resturant. The food is fabulous and very innovative. I especially enjoy the salads. The Cajun Chicken Salad is OUT OF THIS WORLD. I would never have pictured french fries with melted chesse in a salad. I recently had the Corn and Crab Chowder that was wonderful. It was spicy with a subtle hint of corn. I intend to go back every week until I go through the menu and then I will start all over again. Regardless of the day it is always Sunday for a great meal.

Best Spring Rolls ever
DESCRIPTION: If you would have to order one thing on the menu, make it the fried Spring Rolls. There is something magical about them. Fried golden brown and delicious. Man, my mouth is watering right now just writing about it. The fresh rolls are quite good as well and if you want something safe, order the # 33 with beef. All the Crabmeat Fried Rice is excellent. Want to try something new and healthy? Try the Seafood Hot Pot.

Great Vietnamese Food for not a lot of money
DESCRIPTION: The owners have raised the prices from they used to be but they are still reasonable for the amount of food you receive and for the taste. i agree with the other review that their fried spring rolls are wonderful and flavorful and they have really good vermecelli rice noodle dishes that always taste good. I get the pho there and I think it tastes better than the pho houses like pho 75 (they freeze their noodles and they taste funny). I've had dirty water glasses though but the people there are quick to get you another glass but that's about it! Great place to eat. dont' get the pad thai....it's thai food and they're not too good at making it!

For a chain, quite good.
DESCRIPTION: Pho 75 is a chain in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. I've only eaten at this one, so I can only assume the others are as good. Out of all the local Vietnamese restaurants that serve pho, Pho 75 has the best I've tasted in America. There's nothing that quite beats walking in on a cold winter Saturday for lunch and smelling the soup the moment you open the door. As outstanding as the soup is, the service is pretty standard -- nothing special. Pricewise, you can't go wrong -- a small bowl (plenty filling for most people) is under $5 with complimentary tea. Keep in mind, though, that you're not going to get anything other than soup here. If you plan on coming for lunch, plan an early or late lunch -- at 1:30 one Saturday afternoon, there was a line stretching out the door. The Pho restauarant across the street (Pho Hiep Hoa) is almost always empty, though the soup is not quite as good

Delightful
DESCRIPTION: While many people head for nearby Middleburg for an upscale dinner, those in the know come to this wonderful little restaurant. The food is better and the prices lower. Indeed, the French chef and owner demonstrate the attention the French give to their food and their customers.
